I love jazz, but C2C is honestly disappointing... Tony just talks on his songs, can he even sing? He's the reason I don't really like the album, Gaga really delivers
ddd c'mon you know better. In some songs he isn't really good at creating that emotional tone but it's his phrasing and interpretation of the songs that matters. And in some of the songs he's definitely belting out some nice notes. He's 88 for crying out loud, let's see how nice you sound singing happy birthday when you're 60
I understand not being able to get into his voice though but let's be lenient. He's not the young crooner that Slant Magazine wants us to believe he is
I haven't heard the full album but I can see complaints about Tony's phrasing. It's very talk-singy but that's always sorta been his thing. He's been guilty of this for eons. He's still an excellent singer and despite being 88, he does not sound 88 at all. Maybe early 60s. He does not sound that old tbh, he has a very lively tone and color to his voice.
There is nothing wrong with preferring jazz music.
I hope that, if she stays true to her promise of continually making jazz music, that her next side album will be modern jazz and make it more experimental and clashy. All kinds of beauty.
Gaga's voice has never been better than it is on C2C. Guess she was right, they really do edit her vocals for what they feel will sell/get to radio. She sounds much more front-and-center vocally on the songs here than any of her other albums.

To be fair they can't really be compared because a completely different vocal style is needed for jazz than how she sings on her pop albums.

I have a very strong feeling that the next album will be either her Jagged Little Pill or her Back to Basics. Maybe even a mixture of both. A mixture of rock, soul and jazz.

True, but even the recordings themselves just make it seem like her vocals are much clearer than on any pop song from ARTPOP. Even on Dope, Gaga is far less "present" vocally IMO than she is on Cheek To Cheek, Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye and Lush Life. This genre really puts her pipes over the music rather than in between its layers if that makes sense which it probably doesn't
