I'll let the episode sink in for a bit before speaking on it, but as expected, that reunion was a mess and a half. What kind of awful timing? They only spoke to seven of the eighteen castaways. Is that a record low? It must be. Despite the less-than-stellar season we had, the cast was actually quite strong this season. So it sucked to not get to hear anything from people like Jenn, Hali, Sierra, Joaquin, Lindsey, and Vince. We didn't even get enough from some of the seven, like Carolyn.
Instead we needed to have three of the most unlikable people ever to continue to hog the airtime. What I think the Rodney/Dan/Will debacle boils down to is Rodney's crude, bratty personality and Dan's complete lack of self-awareness. Rodney was the least offensive of the three because he's such a character that's seemingly so rooted in who he is, how he was raised, and where he comes from. And while I'd never want to hang out with him or see him on TV again, I think that's okay. Jeff really hit the nail on the head with Dan, regarding the disconnect between what he thinks he's giving off and how others perceive him. He can be quite the despicable, tactless oaf at times, but I don't think he
means any harm. As much as he deserved some dragging, the video they pulled out was a waste of time. He's just not compelling enough to have warranted so much airtime at the reunion. He wanted to be remembered, and I truly hope he can be remembered for nothing more than this:
Because honestly, he doesn't deserve to occupy one single iota more of space in anybody's memory.
I'm not sure what to make of Will, though. That apology seemed completely forced, and it's still to be wondered what exactly triggered his attack on Shirin. They seemed to gloss over the question of where all of his unjustified vitriol for her came from. Shirin of course handled herself with class, but I'm also glad she wasn't so quick to make amends. All in all, I think Will was a classic recruit gone wrong. He should have never been on the show. Let's just leave it at that.

IKR?! I'm not worried about Carolyn because she'll be back eventually, but Shane. I've been waiting seasons to see him play again and he always gets the boot. Plus, he also said this is the last time he goes through this process again.

Shane has gone through the process a couple times, but I didn't realize this was his last time. Such a travesty.
