Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues - 82%, B-
It's enjoyable, but doesn't hold a candle to the original. The jokes and plot are watered down, as well as the quality of the dialogue. Luckily, it was saved by some hilarious, stand-out scenes and the massive amount of cameos at the end of the film (
including but not limited to: Kanye West, Will Smith, Amy Pohler, Tina Fey, Jim Carrey and Vince Vaughn.)
The part of the film where
Ron
went blind was very awkward and put a complete stop to the laughs. At that point, the movie took a total downfall and needed a few minutes to recover. It's worth the watch, but not worth a buy.
Zero Day B+
As someone who knows literally everything about Columbine, I couldn't help but notice the little inaccuracies. But nothing too major, so it was pretty good.
**** got me so emotional, I didn't even see the first one. I cried about 3 times throughout the movie, I mean it was good but an unexpected mood killer.
I just watched some **** called Burning Palms, and I don't understand. It's, made exclusively for someone to ironically like. It reeks of "edginess" and just nothing really comes together. As each story began I really just wanted to know when they would end. I debated forwarding through the last one, but reasoned I'm never going to watch this **** again, I should finish it. And just.. I don't understand why.
Edit: I looked it up, and I knew it would be the type of crap movie people would call a cult classic. It has incest, baby killing, rape and more but never is it really shocking. As satire, it functions half as well as any movie with "Not Another" in its title.
Just a heads up for anyone who thinks this is going to be a nice, hilarious film - well, this isn't NECESSARILY that. Sure, there's jokes and plenty of good scenes, but for the most part this is a three hour ****o. There's nudity, drugs, drinking and other debauchery AT LEAST every three to five minutes. I'm not saying that these are necessarily bad things, but they did numb the film down a bit to the point where it was just too much and too repetitive. The main thing that killed this movie was its duration. Three whole hours. After hour one, the film was pretty good, maybe a B-grade or so.. but we still had more time to kill. After hour two, it was still fine but not as good, and then by the middle of hour three I was just wondering when it was ending. Then when it seemed like it was about to, it didn't, and then the final scene they chose was just so random, weak and not interesting at all. The saving graces of this are the two stars: Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill. Both of their performances were amazing and their characters were hilarious together. Leo's character was a snarky rich guy who was great at stock broking, but cons people to get to the top. Jonah is mostly his partner in crime who has some great one-liners. Jordan Belfort (Leo) is an absolutely amazing character and his attitude throughout the whole film was so enjoyable to watch. There were also many beneficial directorial decisions that were made that enhanced the film experience for me, such as scenes where the audience was being talked to. There are plenty of pros and cons for this, but overall I was left unimpressed due the overlong time the film ran on for. But it seems like tons of people loved this, especially everyone who runs the award shows, so it might be best that you don't rely on my review for if you should see it or not.
THE VERDICT: ★★ 1/2
61%, D-
A three-hour romp with plenty of positive and negative elements - positive being the amazing director
and lead actors, and the negatives including the overlong duration, repetitive themes and boring scenes.
