That's what I was getting at, the change has to happen, but dropping the dollar sign will make it seem more of an authentic change. Even when Miley changed her image people questioned whether she was just faking her new persona, calling her a try-hard, etc. People are going to accept the change a whole lot easier if she changes to Kesha rather than staying as Ke$ha, the trashy glitter loving party girl. The dollar sign does have a lot of connotations surrounding it which will be easier to let go now that she's let go of them herself.

I genuinely disagree. I don't think the dollar sign matters at all. Peoples perception of her was negative because of her vocal stylings and her music.
The dollar sign is as irrelevant as Gaga vs. GaGa
I think fans just hope the dollar sign is enough for people to be like "oh, I can take her seriously now", but like get real lol
