End Of Time is one of those songs where the lyrics are so simple and melodious that it could smash if treated right. However, she performs a 60 seconds medley of the song where she spends the most time singing the second verse which is too fast for non fans to develop an interest or remember.
Basically while Bey is a stellar performer, her countless medleys performing chopped and screwed bits and pieces of songs prevents the viewers from identifying a song (and thus album) to buy which is why she doesn't enjoy the performance sales increase that Adele, Sam Smith, John Legend etc experience.
Yeah i agree with this. This is one thing she needs to take time to do in concerts or shows. Just sing a song completely for once. She used to do that during Destiny's child because she didnt have a choice to allow the girls to sing their parts and i miss those times. I just watched the Destiny fulfilled DVD in Atlanta with the girls again this past week and i miss this Beyonce who used to just stand on a stage with a mic and be simple without big productions. I understand that she wants to be THE entertainer but i dream that she balance it out sometimes with so simple and soulful performances like the ones on the DVD.
They aren't doing no joint album..they are very business minded, and I'm sure they both know when enough is enough…Like, wouldn't it have been much smarter to release it at the end of this year and the go on a GLOBAL tour in 2015??
And at the DJ breaking the exclusive news the day after a picture of them leaving a studio together was posted

I love the big productions but an acoustic performance here or there wouldn't hurt.

What about when she does Resentment, 1+1/Speechless and didn't she do Rocket as well at the piano?
I agree I love these moments but it's not as if they are no longer there. Though I do want a Dangerously in Love style diva moment where she knows she's throwing it down vocally and draws it out for the audience to eat up.
I like End of time but i find the lyrics SO BASIC. I'm glad Beyonce moved away from these little pop empty songs tbh. I think she needs more songs like Halo and Single Ladies to smash worldwide but there is nothing wrong with 4, it's just people were brainwashed with the EDM crap back then which Beyonce wanted NO part of and then Adele came in and overshadowed her and stuff. It just wasn't a good era for her and that happens to every singer. She still sold platinum in her worse era so just be glad for that and move on. The good news is an album like 4 will be appreciated in her repertoire as her career advance.
Ya. Everyone shaded 4 but really failed to realize how different it sounded compared to what everyone else was releasing at the time. I mean look at the songs by Katy, Rihanna, Gaga, J.Lo, Christina, Britney, Ke$ha, etc. Just about every pop girl was doing the same style more or less and Beyoncé was the only one not to. Adele was the only exception the public made, and while her music was great, it was also much more accessible than a song like RTW.
There's no doubt in my mind that if she came in with a generic EDM song she would have slayed, and that the era would not have been an underperformance. This is Beyoncé. She was coming off a massive era, people would have ate that stuff up. But then we wouldn't have had her progress as an artist and for me that is more important than any statistic.
I want an intimate / unplugged concert, that just showcases her voice. Ever since I heard the acoustic CIL during her rehearsals I want it even more.
I would love to hear Blue, Mine, XO, CIL, Smash Into You, Jealous, DIL, Pretty Hurt, Me Myself & I, a cover, EOT, Superpower (with killer harmonies), and solo version of Part II On The Run.
If she ever does an unplugged concert what set list would you like to hear?

I was hoping for this also with a Pretty Hurts performance. I think people have been sleeping on her vocals lately.

Honestly I was relieved that she came out with an amazing album like 4 instead of a basic EDM song. She did what she wanted without following the trends, she already a few electronic dance songs like Sweet Dreams or Telephone anyway.
I do think EOT or Countdown should have been the lead single, I find RTW misleading, like it doesn't represent 4.
Love In Top would've been a perfect lead single. It's the most radio-friendly song of the album, without being similar to anything else released these days.
It's also more of a representative for 4 than RTW is.
I think Countdown would've flopped as a lead single.
Also, EOT wouldn't have been the smash we wanted it to be anyway.
RTW and Love On Top were the only right choices for lead single.

I'm talking about a televised acoustic show. Or something that goes viral like the 1+1 dressing room thing. Idk I just feel people don't get to hear her perform her full songs on TV anymore.

4 flopped because of Run The World, not because of the album content. That lead single was such a bold move, a risk that the GP didn't take to so well. Same way Bow Down might have flopped as a lead single (Minus streams and Beyhive anxiety for new music) cuz it was such a bold new attitude/message. Now both songs mentioned have become GP favorites only because we've warmed up to these new sides of Bey. Lead singles should generally never be too much of a change from what the GP knows you for.

People are saying that now but everyone would be running to buy it and/or listen to it. They've never made a bad song together
except That's How You Like It
. I don't see it even being released any time soon. I can see it coming some time in the middle/end of 2015 if the rumors are true.

You're right. Even though I don't want a joint album anytime soon, I'll be the 1st in line to buy the album

Well overall the album did not match what people were buying at the time. RTW definitely set it up wrong though and it could have done better but the content of the album was really not what was hot, at least for singles. RTW did not help, and then reverting back to BTINH was just a dumb choice. I feel like at time Columbia believed in her but after the failure of RTW they were less likely to take a risk for the next single. It sticks out SO much compared to all the other wonderful singles of the era and even from the rest of the album tracks.
Aside from the first singles already mentioned as options, I think even Dance For You could have been a good one. The sleek sexiness would have cut into pop radios party-songs quite nicely, and it was a top ten R&B hit without ever being a single, and at the time Motivation was a big hit and it is similar in content.
