So many reasons it's a mess but I'm excited to see more Regina next season and hopefully more Zelena. They're the only thing that makes this trainwreck bearable.

Also I don't know why any of you are stressing about next season. I guarantee you no matter what happens it'll rewind back to A. Nothing significant will happen and you'll all have to suffer though around 12 episodes of Hook and Emma googgly eyeing each other while Hook's actor has trouble modulating the volume for his voice as he mistakes screaming for emotion.

I'm from Venezuela so I honestly don't know if that's a book you guys read in school or a movie or something can someone explain so I'm not so ****ing lost? why is this mess in OUAT?

@Lexiel, i only heard of Jekyll and Hyde briefly so here's a summary from what i know, i might be wrong but

Dr Jekyll creates a potion that would separate a good and bad side from a person, and when he took it, it created both Dr Jekyll (good side), Mr Hyde (bad side) = 2 separate people. That is all i know of that story.

They used this story to show us that Regina could potentially "separate" the bad and good sides of herself. Dr Jekyll in OUAT allowed Regina to use the serum (potion) to do this. so Regina (the good side) could exist separately from the Evil Queen (the bad side) = 2 separate characters

By using this story, Regina's "progress" of not returning to the darkness isn't ruined. But we still get to see the Evil Queen return which is an interesting twist.

However, we saw that regina tried to kill the evil queen and it did not work - the EQ still existed. so maybe the EQ will never die whilst Regina is alive, as it's part of her.

You raise many excellent points about weaknesses and strengthens in the show. I have to agree with you on the "black and white" part of morality. This evil vs. good part of your personality erases the grey area. At the same time, I think the morale is that the good and evil is apart of someone. That Regina might be good, but has some bad and vice versa.

Jekyll and Hyde is perfect as a plot device to fo split Regina and the evil queen, but i don't think it is enough as a villain that holds up half a season.
I think we will go back to season 1 where the characters that Jekyll brought will be characters of the week, like Hansel and Gretel, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Jack the giant slayer etc, that due not affect the general story too much, so they can go through few more characters before the show ends

I just hope they will find time to address things that they promised:

The thing is, it WAS difficult to travel between our world and the magical realms. But once they brought the magic there, that all changed. It was difficult before because they didn't know about Merlin's wand. There are magical elements from all the realms that some of them haven't even heard of.

They didn't say "**** it" to Rumple's development. He has gone back and forth since Season 3. They've also made it clear that he is an addict. That part is VERY key. He's addicted to magic and power. He can't get sober because he's the dark one. It would be like trying to have a raging alcoholic get sober with a bottle of their favorite liquor strapped to their hand.

Morality isn't black and white. They never changed that. All they did was introduce a potion that they didn't know about because they never visited that realm.

If you're going to sit here and pick apart the show like a maniac, then don't watch it. It's a fantasy show that's meant to be fun. It's NOT reality. No one is forcing you to watch something you think is a "trainwreck". So stop watching.

Tbh I have no idea why some of y'all are claiming Season 5 was the worst. IMO it's one of the best seasons. Dark Swan was one of the best twists in the entire series. Yeah there were some dull moments in the second half of the season, but the first half was just flawless. It made me fall in love with the show all over again.

Well actually the basis of this show is that nothing is impossible. Magic evolves and so did all the characters with their own magic. They discovered a lot of things in between seasons regarding magic.

That's the THING I LOVEEE about this show. People need to get out of their mind that people change THAT quickly. He was the dark one for hundred of years! Do you really think he would change in a year or two? The fact is Rumple might NEVER change just like people in real life can't escape their addiction. Magic and Power is Rumple's addiction.

The entire "separating the evil" isn't as black and white either. Regina as the evil queen has done horrible things. She is followed by karma because of those things. So by dividing Regina and the evil queen she can get rid of the bad karma that is actually following the Evil Queen and not Regina.

the flying monkeys were shown in the first episode of season 1 so we might not even see any of these stories play out in season 6.

I'm not saying the show has no redeeming qualities. They have made some amazing characters and storylines but a lot of the writing particularly the last 2 seasons has been lazy. I don't mind them changing the dynamics of magic but they seem to do it in a lazy last minute quick fix way a lot of the time and that's what annoys me.

The inclusion of classic literature could either be really good or really messy.

Before I watched the episode I was seriously considering stop watching OUAT after this, everytime the show was getting more messy, and everytime they did less and less justice to otherwise great ideas (Charming's brother, the spell of the broken glass, Mulan & Aurora...).

Here's my opinion of this episode:

I loved what they did with Regina, as many have said it was perfect to have the EQ without messing with Regina's storyline.

I enjoyed the introduction of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hide, but I don't think the show will make them justice, and it will just become a bigger mess, as well with the other classic literature, if the writers were better this would probably get me excited, but as things have been going the last few seasons, they are just repeating the same archs with their characters without advancing them much and it's all just a huge mess.

This show was like a summary of the best of Disney mixed in a really magical way, but now it's just an awkward mix of random characters and lost the magic it once had.

Henry's speech was the worse thing of the episode for me, and everyone in NYC just randomly throwing coins to the fountain was cringeworthy tbh, and I like him having a girlfriend, I actually think her character could be somewhat cool, even tho the actress is not really good at acting either. I was kind of mad with all the stupid things Henry did this episode, but I also found it fun because a lot of teenagers actually act that stupid in real life.

Other moment I really cringed at was when Henry was erasing magic, Rumple just kinda says "No..." but no one moves or tries to stop him.

In conclussion, I still don't know if I'll still be watching the show after this season, I really want to know how the Regina/EQ arch will go and some other stuff, but I know that I will most likely be dissapointed at it's development. I'll use the hiatus to watch some other shows and when it's time for the new season, I guess I'll decide if it's worthy to come back at it.

EDIT: I think no one has mentioned the wedding dress at the background of the Captain Swan scene, probably foreshadowing their wedding.

With the way the show has been going lately I think we all know what will happen. Regina won't have any other way of stopping the evil queen other than sacrificing herself to save everyone aka the charmings + Hook because they show is centered around them getting a happy ending.

It's sad. But oh well.
