Sis, you keep talking about how you want singer-songwriter Katy back, but she hasn't been that for 7 years now like...you might wanna try stanning for someone else if that's your main reason for stanning for Katy Her singer-songwriter side took a backseat the moment she decided she wanted to be a Britney Spears type of pop star. Also, sure, lyrically CYB is good, but the production is monotonous and boring which really ruins the song for me, it never goes anywhere.
How on earth is CYB monotonous? The production just keeps building and getting more intense!

I feel like I shouldn't be included in that quote because 95% of my comments on tracks 10 - 16 from Prism are nothing but praise (that damn dodgy vocal/production mix on By The Grace of God letting down the second half of the album), and think 3 of the songs from the first half of Prism are pretty great examples of fantastic pop tracks whilst 2.5 others are very listenable? No reason for me to leave Katy when she can still produce fantastic music like that!
Prism isn't a massive, shocking departure from One of The Boys anyway. Yeah, it's a little bit less rock and more pop, but it's no Teenage Dream (which has sounded really dated for a few years now, as happens to all pure pop music).
Unconditionally is too wordy, the This Is How We Do lyrics are just plain embarrassing and then there's that rap, if anyone was curious about the songs I excluded ~

The passion! "I swore way too much, but I swear you didn't ****ing care cause we were in love" (why did she change this witty line?)
I don't think she was allowed, or didn't want, to have a Parental Advisory sticker on One of The Boys. I'm pretty sure the album version of UR So Gay is also edited a bit? It is on Spotify at least. (I never upgraded the version my mother acquired for me to my CD so I dunno tbh. )

Ghost is one of the best songs on Prism, and I really don't get how some people don't see that. It's so great. I also agree that the three deluxe tracks are better than almost the entirety of the record. Would be totally happy with her going in that direction

The PRISM deluxe tracks are three of the worst on the album. Glad they were deluxe only. Definitely not the sound she needs. She'd actually flop so hard she could never recover.
If her next album was full of Spirituals, It Takes Twos and Choose Your Battles, her career would literally be over. They're the closest to Thinking of You and Unconditionally out of her singles and they both underperformed.
Going dance would be amazing. She needs to bring SEX and SASS next era. She can be mature without being a boring ballad singer. We don't need another Adele.
