Actually Chicago is on that list too. I met a lot of good people between Montreal and Miami. I keep in regular contact with a few and it's only a matter of time before I end up there for a concert or something.
The song simply goes nowhere . It's not dance-y enough nor has the sheer joy of Cherish,for example. The lyrics are childish and simplistic to the point that there's no point at all :"can we get together? I really wanna be with you (really ? )/ c'mon check it out with me (?) / I hope you feel the same way too (woooo,shocker ).
Production is great but the whole album has no flaw when it comes to this subject .
So,never really understood the love for this.

As much as it tickles me that you speak so highly of Cherish and its resplendent and exuberant ways... the lyrics of Get Together might be simple but the melody and the hook and production just put it over. It's Madonna doing mindless dance-pop perfectly for one of the last times for the next few years.
