I've felt throughout this entire competition that Simone = Beyonce and Tiah = Rihanna. I wouldn't be surprised to see them singing a Beyonce or Rihanna song.
Simon's not looking for Beyonce competition. He wants them to challenge Rihanna.
And the easiest way to do what is to find a new Beyonce circa 2003. Beyonce herself may have matured along with her music, but Beyonce 2001-2004 was pure bubblegum/teen/hip pop and that is selling again.
