So what now? Is there a time frame til the next round, or are we looking for a certain amount of votes to move on?
It always depends. I've been a little low on votes this round, but I do want to move on to the finale. I may keep things open a little longer and update tonight.
Nelly Furtado and Britney Spears are currently tied, which means I need to cast the deciding vote. I love both songs so much and this is incredibly hard decision! I may regret this in the morning but...
Thanks to everyone who voted this past round, which saw the elimination of the third place song. With only one round to go before the finale, the stakes were high and all the contenders were running neck and neck. Throughout the polling period, the results remained close as each song led with votes at one point or another. In the end, it came down to a dead heat between two very different #1 hits. But one had to go--which meant I had to make a very tough decision. Say goodbye to...
"...Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears, which may have been the voters' favorite to win the whole thing since this survivor began. What can even be said about "...Baby One More Time"? It is an undeniable pop classic that launched the legendary career of one of music's biggest icons. To this day, it remains among Britney's most beloved, respected and successful hits. (Just consider that, even in this silly little game, it won more immunities than any other song.) So how did I bring myself to vote against one of the defining hits of my own favorite singer? Blame Timbaland, whose intoxicating production of "Say It Right" may have momentarily held me captive under its spell.

Results: Round 13
Britney Spears "...Baby One More Time" -6
Nelly Furtado "Say It Right" -5
Kelly Clarkson Since U Been Gone" -4
Last round, the results were extremely close, but ultimately "...Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears was eliminated from contention. Now, only two songs are still in the running, which means that it's time to pick the winner!
FINALE
On the one hand, we have "Say It Right" by Nelly Furtado, a #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2007 and a masterpiece among Timbaland's production discography. "Say It Right" worked its way through round after round of this survivor relatively unscathed, even winning multiple immunities. But last round, it was almost eliminated, barely squeaking past "...Baby One More Time" in order to reach the finale. Can "Say It Right" launch a comeback and take the crown?
VS.
Or will it be Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone", a #1 pop smash in 2005 that launched her career into the stratosphere? In the voter poll I conducted at the beginning of this game, "Since U Been Gone" was among the favorite song choices. It has performed consistently since, rarely falling into serious danger of elimination and even winning a few immunities of its own. Can "Since U Been Gone" expect a blowout victory?
Please PICK A WINNER.
