Album may have been a bit... sleepy, but this track was one of the moments where things get really good. Also remember when I said the songs I mentioned in my albums list wouldn't make it? No? Me neither.

A: Sleater-Kinney
S: "Bury Our Friends"

I am really getting into Sleater-Kinney and appreciating them as artists and their position in the world of music. In doing so I've been listening to some of their past albums (The Woods is the best one) and found out about their upcoming release. "Bury Our Friends" is fantastic and totally gets me hyped. I can't say how it stands up to the rest of their discography but I know its a great song from a really great band.

A: James Blake
S: "200 Press"

This is kind of the obligatory James Blake mention. His EP featured some cool sounds and interesting textures and "200 Press" was the one song that really stood out. I'm excited for his next album and hope its as good as his last one!

A: Lydia Ainsworth
S: "PSI"

Another really great example from her album. The haunting melodies and enchanting production coupled with her beautiful vocals makes this a magical listening experience.

S: "0 To 100 / The Catch Up"

We can say that this update was the songs of 2014 that got me hyped for 2015. Drake combined styles he's done before into this new song which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I prefer the second half though, I guess his next next album can be the full R&B one?

S: "Handsome Hands"

The brilliant build up is everything. Its a crazy, beautiful, twisted song with strong lyrics and amazing instrumental. Heavy percussion, a dark atmospheric feel and that chaotic ending, its the most impactful song from her album.

A: Stromae et al.
S: "Meltdown"

Lorde gathers together many very different artists and we end up with this undeniable bop. Acting as the opener to the soundtrack its the perfect mix of everything in the context of The Hunger Games. A mix between the dark atmospheric feel with the grandeur and luxury of the Capitol, its got a lot going on in it and it gets the energy going right from the start.

S: "Capitol"

And speaking of Capitol... This track was an immediate standout as well for me. There are, once again, tons of cool elements that work together for an awesome electronic experience. Its a bit more dancey than some of the other songs I suppose but I guess that's part of its appeal. There's a lot of suspense that is let out into hard-hitting moments all throughout. This could actually work in the context of The Hunger Games too...

A: Real Estate
S: "Navigator"

So I guess this one kind of doesn't fit with the other four in this update but "Navigator" is another example of the fantastic lyricism Real Estate used for their #2 peaking album (

). This one works as the album closer and its a fantastic one at that.

A: Azealia Banks
S: "Gimme A Chance"

Definitely the best song from her album. There are so many interesting elements here from the Spanish speaking Azealia towards the end, the salsa inspired beats, the sample from an indie-pop song that fits so well. Its a lot of different things that work really well together with brilliant results.

I think there are two more left! I tried not to include the entire tracklist but I probably could have.

I think so far we had: Plan The Escape, Ladder Song, Meltdown and then the last two were my immediate favourites.

I liked Lost Souls and Yellow Flicker Beat a lot too but I didn't include them to my list. I wonder which one you're talking about...

A: Bombay Bicycle Club
S: "Feel"

The most Bollywood song from their album, its so dreamy and hypnotic. It reminds me of growing up watching Bollywood movies and captures the magic perfectly. The video is super cute too.

A: Flying Lotus (feat. Captain Murphy & Snoop Dogg)
S: "Dead Man's Tetris"

Its just that beat. Its so hypnotic and hectic, when those bullet sounds kick in... the whole thing is a crazy ride backed by intriguing lyrics. One of many moments from him where its tons of stuff going on that works really well together.

S: "Inspector Norse"

Much like the entire album, its a joyful listening experience but this one's one of the most interesting songs for its production. The nu-disco feel is still strong but there are tons of little blips throughout and it builds a lot of great suspense. Perfect song to listen to if you want to get into his album.

S: "Queen"

So I guess this album really does have a few too many piano ballads (though I love them all) but there are some moments like this. Bold vocals, brilliant lyrics and probably the best production from the entire album. Its clear that this is a favourite of many because its just so good.

S: "Our Love"

This one starts with an interesting almost groovy intro and keeps the mellow feeling throughout. And the continuous repetition of "it's our love" is beautiful. I can't get enough of this girl and her brilliant songwriting though. There's still one more amazing example of it (easily the best song of 2014 lyrically) that will come soon.

Probably their best song ever (

). Incredible lyrics and their classic big choruses are alive and well here. Its the perfect sound for them and their voices - just brilliant.

Its an interesting change of pace for Kendrick and its probably the best inspiration song in a long time. I applaud Kendrick for taking a risk (who knew this would be a risk?) and making such a cool song. I'm ready for his album next year!

One of my favourite collaborations from this year no doubt. Its got a great funky beat and sounds trippy? Its just an addicting song and definitely my favourite from their album.

The last Beck song for my list. I have nothing really to say other than I love the lyrics and the chorus is brilliant.
