#50. Indiana - "Solo Dancing" from the album 'No Romeo' Genre: Synthpop, Electropop
Italo-Disco, Deep House, Dance-Pop Country: UK - Label: Epic
"I go dancing, by myself, I go dancing with no one else..."
If "Dancing On My Own" is a sweet, dance-y Electropop song with dark lyrics about a break-up, this is its closest opposite. The lyrics are about literally dancing on your own, but the beat and the melody is so dark, minimal, almost... scary.
#49. Charli XCX - "Boom Clap" from the album 'SUCKER' Genre: Electropop, Synthpop
Dance-Pop, Power Pop, Alternative R&B Country: UK - Label: Atlantic
"BOOM CLAP THE SOUND OF MY HEART THE BEAT GOES ONANDONANDONANDONAND"
It took some time for me to like this track, mainly because it was quite poppier than what I was used from Charli XCX, also because it was attached to some **** movie, but this song is probably among the best hit songs of 2014, its explosive chorus (pun intended!) is everything to me, she also looks adorable in the video, love her.
#25. Caribou - 'Our Love' Highlights: "Second Chance (feat. Jessy Lanza)", "Can't Do Without You", "Your Love Will Set You Free", "Our Love" Genre: Deep House, Indietronica
Microhouse, Balearic Beat, Electropop Country: Canada - Label: Merge You'll like it if you like: Daphni, John Talabot, Disclosure, Jessy Lanza, Grimes
'Our Love' is an album, that, despite being a huge change of direction for this particular Dan Snaith project, leaving all kind of Psych-Pop and Folktronica influence behind, still feels quite personal, and still has a unique sound that very few musicians would even think about taking that risk.
#48. Lykke Li - "Love Me Like I'm Not Made of Stone" from the album 'I Never Learn' Genre: Indie Pop, Folk Pop
Chamber Pop, Art Pop, Chamber Folk Country: Sweden - Label: Atlantic
"Everytime it breaks, everytime it storms, love me like I'm not made of stone..."
At first I was like "wtf this is so boring" - but I don't know what I was thinking, this is one of the most beautiful songs she's ever written. I feel ya Lykke, I feel ya.
#47. Röyksopp & Robyn - "Sayit" from the album 'Do It Again' Genre: Industrial Techno, Electro House
Electropop, Tech House Country: Norway/Sweden - Label: Interscope
"Pleasure machine, **** mechanic"
Is there a gif or a video of a robot twerking in a pool full of blood? Idk, that's what this song makes me feel like, to be honest. Your EDM basics could NEVER.
#24. RÜFÜS - 'Atlas' Highlights: "Tonight", "Modest Life", "Take Me", "Sarah" Genre: Electropop, Indietronica
Balearic Beat, Nu-Disco, House, Alternative Dance Country: Australia - Label: Sweat It Out! You'll like it if you like: Calvin Harris, John Talabot, Passion Pit
RÜFÜS sounds like the music Calvin Harris would make if he never sold out, or like collaboration between John Talabot and Passion Pit. It's really lovely and club friendly! Really underrated… outside Australia, that is.
#46. Banks - "Drowning" from the album 'Goddess' Genre: Art Pop, Alternative R&B
Downtempo, Trip Hop, Future Garage Country: USA - Label: Harvest
"All of your words, they've been cursed with dishonesty..."
While being sexy is not a quality I'd apply to Banks' music, she definitely sounds so smooth and beautiful in this song, I just can't resist. She also looks beautiful in the vid too. The beats here are really detailed and minimal, good stuff.
#45. Sophie feat. GFOTY - "Hard" Genre: Bubblegum Bass, Glitch Pop
Wonky, Glitch Hop, Grime Country: UK - Label: Numbers.
"BUT IT'S JUST SO HARD SO HARD"
While not being exactly the sequel of his huge hit "Bipp", this is more like a part two of GFOTY's 'Secret Mix'. And that works! It's just so insane, and wild, and every beat is completely different from the other. AND THE ENDING IS EPIC. Also, if you feel like "THIS IS TOO INDEE 4 ME SORRY", just letting you know he produced "Bitch I'm Madonna".
#23. Flying Lotus - 'You're Dead' Highlights: "Never Catch Me (feat. Kendrick Lamar)", "The Protest (feat. Kimbra)", "Siren Song (feat. Deradoorian)", "Coronus, the Terminator", "Dead Man's Tetris (feat. Snoop Dogg & Captain Murphy)" Genre: Wonky, Nu Jazz
Jazz Fusion, Experimental Hip Hop, Glitch Hop Country: USA - Label: Warp You'll like it if you like: Jazz music, Captain Murphy, 'Until the Quiet Comes'
This is definitely FlyLo's most Jazz-influenced album to date, and it's actually influenced by, uh, death, but don't let that scare you away, this is so fun and interesting, you're going to love it if you love instrumental hip hop music
#44. Perfect ***** - "I" from the album 'I Have Lost All Desire For Feelings' Genre: Noise Rock, Post-Hardcore
Noise Pop, Hardcore Punk Country: USA - Label: Captured Tracks
"""My best friend is back in town, there's a bad taste in my mouth.
Her eyes fell low and heavy with shame and ***.
She must have been desperate;
she acted so lonely.
She is deserving of affection, I am glad that she found love.
What love lays bare in me is energy, so i give up that which keeps me going, and I still end up lonely.
Sick with loss and shame, so I edit for mistakes to determine what I'd done that made her act this way.
She'll forget her actions.
Someday I'll forget her actions.
Ashes to ashes to ashes to ashes, we will all die someday.
I am full of light.
I am filled with joy.
I am full of peace.
I had this dream that i forgave my enemies"""
The lyrics.
#43. Marina and the Diamonds - "Froot" Genre: Electropop, Synthpop
Dance-Pop, Electro-Disco Country: UK - Label: Atlantic
"Life couldn't get much sweeter..."
A perfect comeback song for Marina in my opinion, the perfect mix between the quirky indie-pop-ness of The Family Jewels and the dance beats of her second album, Electra Heart. Also the lyrics are pretty good.
#22. St. Vincent - 'St. Vincent' Highlights: "Rattlesnake", "Digital Witness", "Prince Johnny", "Birth in Reverse", "I Prefer Your Love Genre: Art Pop
Noise Pop, Synthpop, Trip Hop, Indie Rock Country: USA - Label: Republic You'll like it if you like: Kate Bush, Talking Heads, 'Strange Mercy'
2014 was the year where St. Vincent became a huge rockstar. Getting nominated for a Grammy, getting critical acclaim everywhere, collaborating with Swans on their album 'To Be Kind', appearing on many TV shows, releasing a great album, and you know, just kicking ass. This is probably her most diverse full-length album yet, and I absolutely love that.
#42. CHVRCHES - "Under the Tide" from the album 'The Bones of What You Believe' Genre: Electropop, Synthpop
Dance-Pop, Indietronica Country: UK - Label: Glassnote
"I'm watching you run, run from the sidelines, take in a breath, fill in your lungs, keeping you alive..."
While this is by no means the highlight of their debut album, 'The Bones of What You Believe', here, Martin takes the lead instead of Lauren, but nevertheless it's still a great song! And that video is amazing too!
#41. iamamiwhoami - "Blue Blue" from the album 'BLUE' Genre: Synthpop, Art Pop
Dream Pop, Chillwave, Electropop, Ambient House Country: Sweden - Label: To whom it may concern.
"Continue the line I've drawn, fill in the missing marks, without you, I am who?..."
This song was previewed in the announcement video of their third album 'BLUE'. And this was a fan's favorite from the beginning, while I got tired of it kinda quickly, I must admit that:
- The synthesizers-that-sound-like-vocals are just magnificent.
- The ending is glorious.
- The video might actually be the video of the year.
#21. Clark - 'Clark' Highlights: "The Grit in the Pearl", "Unfurla", "There's a Distance in You" Genre: IDM, Techno
Ambient Techno, Tech House, Glitch, Wonky Techno Country: UK - Label: Warp You'll like it if you like: Aphex Twin, Daniel Avery, Orbital-meets-Oneohtrix Point Never
I always felt that Clark was probably one of the most underrated people from the Warp crew - his album 'Body Riddle' is among my favorite albums of all time, and while this is not his best technically talking, I still feel like this is most diverse one, as it has songs that could belong to an EDM artist ("Unfurla", "The Grit in the Pearl"), as much as they can belong to an experimental electronica one ("Banjo", "Beacon") - and that's why I love it!
Amo Solo Dancing!

Noise, Industrial Hip Hop, Conscious Hip Hop, Glitch Hop, Musique Concrete Country: USA - Label: Sub Pop You'll like it if you like: Gangsta Rap meets Merzbow, Death Grips, M.I.A., Dälek
I missed a couple updates and some amazing amazing things.
Like, Clipping. is operating on a different level, straight out of the future like you've said, Flying Lotus is incredible and offered up a classic, Caribou is still doing his stellar dance stuff, Run The Jewels offered up some fire.
And on the singles side too, Bey is red hot with Haunted, Attak is a head-rush of a song, like racing in a video game set in the distant future, Froot is some withcy dance, and you don't get more perfect as a pop song than Boom Clap.
15 Pharmakon - 'Bestial Burden'
14 Banks - 'Goddess'
13 Sia - '1000 Forms of Fear'
12 Ben Frost - 'A U R O R A'
11 Lykke Li - 'I Never Learn'
Any predictions for the Top 10 of both albums and singles? Let me give you a few hints:
- Three of the artists in the Top 10 singles haven't appeared before in the singles chart.
- The #1. in the albums has been hinted ALL OVER THE COUNTDOWN.
- There is an artist that appeared twice in the top 10 albums, one as a lead artist, and the other one as a producer.
- One of the albums in the top 10 was released in 2013.
