Question: So, everyone in this thread is confirming that Beyoncé rarely actually "writes," but Beyoncé's "writing" consists of melody/harmony changes and ad libs? Is this correct? Enlighten me, I'm only a freshman at the School of Beygency.

This is the most I've ever seen them concede on the discussion of Beyonce's song writing capabilites. Linda Perry has truly broken down barriers.
How does this prove me wrong? The song was changed when he gave it to her team and 6 people worked on it, the changes were minimal as the songs still sound almost identical. So in conclusion: The demo was just slightly changed by Beyonce and 5 other writers, how much credit would you give her for that?
The other people listed on Irreplaceable are Stargate and Espionage, two songwriting teams that Ne-Yo frequently works with, which means that they more than likely helped him write Irreplaceable BEFORE Beyonce made her changes. Oh wait...they DID.
Quote:
“We focused on the sound when we did it, and when we wrote it with Ne-Yo it was done first with a male vocal, and we thought, ‘This is more of a female vocal part,’ ” Hermansen said. “We liked it and so did Ne-Yo, but he said, ‘Who will cut this?’"
Almost every devoted music fan knows that Beyonce steals song writing credits.
Many producers and song writers have called her out but then all the sudden they take back what they said. (Maybe because they got some $$ to keep quiet)
But I don't understand why Beyonce gets so much crap for it when other artists do it all the time too.
So you have worked with other songwriters? That means because you didn't write some of your songs all by yourself, you're not a songwriter. Hey, I'm only using ATRL logic here.

No one said that's what all she does.
We said that for the songs your fellow wasps used in hopes to drag Beyoncé.
One song isn't her entire discography.
The thing is she might've changed few words or harmonies so she'd like it better but it still shows how much of a nerve she has to add herself to songwriting credits for such a minor change. Any normal person would just feel wrong and embarrassed to do it but she pretends to create this songs all by herself and to be such a songwriter when she's just not. And that's so fake and sad.
Because then she goes on interviews and describes herself as a songwriter, receives awards for songwriting, when she is NOT a songwriter. Changing one word and singing some harmonies in the booth is not being a songwriter.
As someone who is an actual songwriter and has worked with songwriters, it's insulting.
But why are you framing it as if that's the ONLY way she conducts her music creation process?
There are different angles. Some songs stumble across her path and she manipulate them. Other times she sits down and writes them.
"In addition to being impressed with Beyonce's on-the-spot skills as a lyricist and producer, Workman also was awestruck by certain aspects of her musicianship, particularly regarding timing."
-Gold Star/SugarHill Recording Studios Memoirs
How do you decide what's authoritative on Beyoncé's songwriting process and what's not? That's what I find hard to understand.
It seems like you're only picking out the negative. When clearly it's a multidimensional process.

How does Beyonce steal songwriter credits when everyone that's involved with a song gets credit?

Basically. I've posted the audio of Ne-Yo specifically saying that he was the one to write Irreplaceable and intended to release his version of the song. The reason that Beyonce gets so much flack is because unlike others she claims to do all of or most of her own songwriting instead of just owning the fact that she does have help in that area.
So you have worked with other songwriters? That means because you didn't write some of your songs all by yourself, you're not a songwriter. Hey, I'm only using ATRL logic here.
No, because when I write a song we sit down together and make a track from scratch. I don't just come in a modify a couple of things that someone else has made. That's called "doctoring", and is usually uncredited.

It doesn't matter. You still didn't do it all by yourself.
well she said she wrote that song and the person who really wrote the song sued her
The Daily Telegraph reported that Knowles' father and then-manager Mathew Knowles pursued the publishing rights of "If I Were a Boy" after realizing that it had the potential to become a big hit, Jean used her Myspace account to express her frustration: "I have been reading some of these comments and to set the record straight from the horse's mouth – IF I WERE A BOY is my song; YES, I wrote this song; It is my story; a painful one, and the song is very dear to me. You can hear the original version on my myspace site." Friedman later reported that Knowles and Jean had come to terms. The deal included a promise that Knowles would record a duet with Jean for her debut album.
Can you find the quote/video/report that says Beyonce claimed to have written the song? I don't remember that ever happening.
What you've brought up is merely an account of how Beyonce got the song.

Again, we said that for a couple of songs like Silent Night. We never claimed Bey wrote ALL her lyrics. Some she did and some she didn't.
Judging by your reading and comprehension skills, we are expelling you from the Beygency.

No. Just that it's the case for some of her songs (coincidentally the only ones they continue to post about).

And there's nothing wrong with personalizing minor aspects of a song to make it fit a specific gender role or something of that nature. However, people don't just take top billing or credit in general for a song that they had no direct hand in developing.
