Not that I agree with ATRL's skewed use of the world "impact", but on my college campus over the past few months I've heard Happy, Dark Horse, and Drunk in Love everywhere. I only heard Applause once on campus last year and it was during a breast cancer campaign
IMO, Applause may have performed better digitally, but when you look at the actual sales...they aren't really all that impressive so meh idk about this. Going by sales Applause, going by song awareness from where I'm from, Drunk in Love was a much bigger and popular song.
If applause was 5x platinum then we could shrug this off as "Obvious" but I mean after all Applauses longevity it's not even 3x platinum. Earlier I also forgot to look into the fact that Beyonce was an Itunes exclusive upon it's first week of release. It sold 1 million digitally on itunes which surely affected Drunk in Love's digital performance
The sales of both songs are horribly low and nothing to brag over though.

And Applause sold twice as much. Let alone 14 weeks in top 10, when y'all were saying how "this is the last week in top 10 for Applause" and then it was top 10 for 10 more weeks
The truth is that Drunk In Love has 0 impact outside of Tumblr and Vine.
I mean if it did have an impact, the song wouldn't be at 1.1M in the USA Seriously, you don't need to have that much brain to realize that
And not someone saying DIL was released the same time as the album, I can say the same about DWUW and without a VIDEO, DWUW have 1.1M sales in the USA almost as much as DIL with a video, LET'S NOT.

Now wait a minute. Katy has no "impact" with a 6x platinum single, like five 5x platinum singles, and tons of 4x platinum singles, but suddenly sales are used to gauge impact?
