Classic TRL video. I liked them at the time but now I don't. ?_? It took awhile for it to retire due to September 11th, but it got there. 7 or 8 days at #1...crazy, and it was all because of their fans' online voting mission (similar to the one involving P.O.D., Incubus, Deftones back in 2000) which was also used by Eve 6 for "Here's to the Night," but TRL sucks and didn't let it retire.
See, if the video would reach a certain position, random voting participants would receive a prize or two. #10 was something simple, like a sticker...getting the video to #1 would get them a phone call from the band and a free ticket to one of their shows or something...I wish bands still did that nowadays, 'cause it worked (not for 311 though. They tried it with "You Wouldn't Believe" and it only made it to a Close Call three times.) The last time I remember somebody doing that was unwritten law with "Seein' Red," which did surprisingly well on the countdown.
