"Hollywood" deals with appearances and how people stick to superficial things in their lives, as Madonna said she did before Kabbalah happened.
It didn't even chart in the US, not even on the Bubbling Under Hot 100. That was her first single since ****ing "Burning Up" to manage to achieve such a title. However, it was kinda successful in Europe - it even got a #2 in the UK!
Of course its most infamous performance was at the 2003 VMAs, with Britney and... what's the name of the other girl? Oh, yes, Missy Elliot. The only time she used it in a tour was at the Re-Invention as an interlude.
The video basically features Madonna predicting what in the future would be
The Real Housewives. It suffered a lawsuit for plagiarism (Gaga stans, quick, get your receipts!) but both parts reached a settlement and everything went OK.
I really like "Hollywood". Its lyrics are simple, yet effective. Its sound is simple, yet effective. That's what Madonna is good at. 8 from me.
