OFFICIAL JANET JACKSON THREAD
A Note To Fans: Janet has not received such a response arguably since THE VELVET ROPE. There will be members of the board who do not like Janet, her reasons for making the album or hate the songs that she produced. THIS IS THEIR RIGHT. This thread is for those to express those feelings. Her album, songs, and the news from Island Def Jam speak for themselves.
TYLER PERRY'S WDIGM #1 DVD IN USA
February 21, 2008: 07:00 AM EST
SANTA MONICA, Calif., and VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Feb. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Tyler Perry has again underscored the success of his partnership with LIONSGATE(R) , the premier independent filmed entertainment studio, and Lionsgate continued its DVD hot streak as Perry's latest DVD release -- TYLER PERRY'S WHY DID I GET MARRIED? -- debuted at number one on the North American DVD charts this past week with over two million units already sold. The accompanying DVD release of his stage play WHAT'S DONE IN THE DARK also debuted in the top 10.
WHY DID I GET MARRIED? SYNOPSIS/SPECIAL FEATURES
Written, produced, directed and starring Perry, TYLER PERRY'S WHY DID I GET MARRIED? is a big-screen adaptation of his hit stage play of the same name. Also starring Janet Jackson and Jill Scott, the movie is an intimate story about the challenge of maintaining a solid love relationship in modern times. The heartwarming and often hilarious film looks at eight married college friends who have gathered for their annual seven-day reunion. The cozy mood is shattered when the group comes face-to-face with one pair's infidelity. As secrets are revealed, each couple begins questioning the validity of their own marriage. Over the course of the weekend, husbands and wives take a hard look at their lives, wrestling with issues of commitment, betrayal, redemption and the road to forgiveness.

SPANKIN NEW MUSIC - JANET ON MTV!
Tuesday: We'll be trying out very hardest not to completely freak out because pretty much this day's entire show will be devoted to turbo-sexy Janet Jackson, who'll be performing and hanging out on TRL letting all of us hear a bunch of her new music from the forth coming album Discipline ... while we try our very hardest not to completely freak out! And, as if the treasure trove that is Spankin' New Ladies Week couldn't get any richer, we'll also take a 1st Look at Kate Nash's "Pumpkin Soup" video!
PEOPLE MAGAZINE REVIEW: 3.5 OUT OF 4 STARS, CRITICS CHOICE!
After a career slump, Janet Jackson answers any questions about what she's done for us lately with Discipline, her best album since 2001's All For You. Working without producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis for the first time since before Control, the pop diva brings in some new blood-and comes up with some fresher sounds. While still letting Janet be Janet, Discipline puts a spanking new sheen on her mix of clubby dance tracks, candy-coated midtempo confections and sweet and sexy slow jams. Highlights include the bubbly, synth-happy "LUV", "Rollercoaster", an exiting ride with a banging drum loop, and the lushly atmospheric "Can't B Good", on which Ne-Yo, who cowrote this and two other tunes, brings out the Michael in Janet.
People Magazine has granted Janet "Critics Choice".

I like the album. The upbeats are the best parts. Janet has never really been able to pull off ballads, her voice just doesn't have anything to it. The song "Discipline" is just wrong on all sorts of levels, I just imagine her dad beating her. :janet:
Feedback is easily the best song, lol, and I usually never think the lead singles are the best. Luv, Never Letchu Go, and The 1 are all good as well.

the best tracks on the album ARE the slow jams.
the uptempos are too ghetto generic hip-hop destined to kids, easily forgettable like in 10 years.
My fave tracks
DISCIPLINE
CAN'T BE GOOD
GREATEST X
WHAT'S UR NAME
ROCK WITH U
CURTAINS
LET ME KNOW (the bonus track)
Never Letchu Go is cheesy as hell.
2nite sounds generic and is less powerful than Don't Stop Da Music by Rihanna and Together Again
The 1 is just mediocre, Missy Elliott should just shut her mouth and her rap is just mediocre and painfully awful
Luv is generic, forgettable in like 2 years
FEEDBACK is an excellent song even if the remix by CIARA is a lot better.
The lyrics are just "in your face"

Someone on the Pulse Music Board posted pictures of the European album booklet for Discipline, but I'm not sure how to upload them on here. She looks great in the pictures! Just go to the Janet Jackson thread on Pulse Music Board and look for them if you want to see them.

she's a little bit scary especially when she talks in an interlude about self mortification
but discipline is so sexy
the photos are not well chosen and scares me even if janet seems to be a woman you would not get bored with in bed

This album is surprinsigly good. And the booklet is very good as well, despite the fact that she looks weird in the pics. Not enough to make me buy the album though.

nuroad, tell Janet that I love her album so much and that "So Much Betta" ft. KIKO is her best upbeat song to date.

Wow...TRL just contacted me via email and asked if I wanted to give my review of the album LIVE on tv....but since I'm too damn chicken to do it, I guess I can just scream how much I love the album from the audience. lmao
Seeing Ms. Jackson in person is my one of my dream fan moments. I'm counting down the days!!!!
