I wouldn't say it was risky just because Gaga could've released literally ANY song and it would've had a massive impact and probably debuted at #1 regardless.

Meanwhile, yes, there are a LOT of generic songs on the Hot 100, but let's not act like it hasn't been this way for the past few years now. Generic doesn't mean that it's bad, just saying

Born This Way's production is pretty generic, not gonna lie. And I'm sick of the stans saying that using "gay, lesbian, ect." in the song was a risk, She is arguably the biggest person in the world right now, radio would be playing her song even the lyrics were Friday's.

i disagree, no current pop songs have such production well maybe except "dance in the dark" because it's by gaga and fernando too. I'm not saying it's a great song but it's obviously not generic

Born This way is definetley IMO, Gaga's worst single to date. I mean, honestly, who is buying that song? The whole self-esteem Pop songs seem to be a trend lately, but at least with songs like Firework, it's catchy. I just can't get into BTW. Her voice sounds kind of muffled during the chorus. To me, it sounds like it's unfinished and dated or something. So I can only conclude that song was big because it's Gaga. At this point, I'm sure she can release a song with her farting and it would at least debut Top 10.
