I don't give a damn if Britney even released 8 albums with that "group". The fact of the matter is Britney began the female bubblegum Pop movement, when the bands/groups were dominating. She stood out on her OWN, and began a movement of her own like no other new female had done since the likes of Madonna, Whitney, & Mariah. That isn't going to change 13 years after the bitch caused a storm in the music industry, just because you want it to.
As far as The Neptunes go, what I said isn't a lie. They had not worked with a Pop female. Janet did not record "Slave" or "Boys", therefore they did NOT work with her. She sure as hell had them come make a remix to "Son Of A Gun" after the fact, though. N'Sync? Did they not have The Neptunes come REMIX "Girlfriend"? Which was in 2002? After "Slave" had surfaced in August 2001/surely recorded months prior? Please inform me of any other song they did with The Neptunes, because Wade Robson produced the original version of the song, thus not dubbing the name The Neptunes. I'll return for the answer - as I really want to know.
And they weren't. You can check their credentials. Love Pharrell, Neptunes, and N*E*R*D, but their reign wasn't thick and didn't control the charts the way I am meaning, so yeah you can find it sad - but won't change the fact.
And why should Britney get the credit for record companies wanting to cash in on her success and manufacture artists like her? The fact remains that Britney was not first choice for their tracks (Michael turned down the tracks that wound up on Justine's album) nor did Britney purposely sought them out. Britney gets sent songs and picks the ones she thinks are cool. That's not innovative.
Neptunes remix of Son of a Gun? P. Diddy and Missy Elliott aren't the Neptunes? Girlfriend is produced by the Neptunes. The remix features Nelly. I don't even know why you brought up the remix because the both version sounds the same.
And even if more people began working with the Neptunes because of Britney, Slave 4 U and Boys flopped on the charts, so what is there to boast about?
Oh and Rico, don't forget the "Anti-Britney's" movement she helped began. Not only did she help start genre movements, because of her, a new wave of artists in the way they sung and market themselves had begun because of Britney.
Why does she still have a career after this monstrosity?
I agree. I remember when there was a poll asking if Britney will lip-sync for the S&M duet, and all the delusional stans predicted she wouldn't. Surprise surprise... She did.
Britney is relevant because many people grew up with her, and as long as she continues making albums, her old time fans will stick with her, no matter if she is lip syncing, bad performances, etc. All we want is her music. That's my reason why I'm still a Britney stan.
It honestly puzzles me why Britney is still relevant....why people still care for this girl. How her CD even managed to sell, how she still has fans.
She can't dance anymore.
She doesn't have the best vocals in the world.
When she talks, she's either too humble/quiet to say something of substance -- or too guarded to answer, or be asked honest questions.
Some say she doesn't even tweet her own stuff.
I've seen artists like Jessica Simpson and Nicole Sherrzzdididid--- sing their hearts out.....yet they aren't doing much music career wise.
Artists like Ciara can dance circles around Britney, yet she is nowhere to be found.
Christina Aguilera can give reporters a great soundbyte, yet her career is on thin-ice.
Why in the hell is Britney still around?
I'm sure Britney works hard and is passionate about her work, however...given Britney's passive approach to the Femme Fatale era, and lackluster persona as an entertainer...it just puzzles me how she continues to outlast her peers.
The Big Bang Theory is easier to explain than this. I don't understand it, either. But in regards to success and longevity, she's the luckiest artist to have ever lived. Having a legion of delusional stans who will swallow whatever you serve up to them also helps, but it clearly doesn't apply to everyone or Adam Lambert would be bigger than Gaga by now.

If it WASN'T for her then the labels wouldn't have anyone to use as a blueprint to try and jump start the careers of their own artists. It's clear you're not fond of Britney, which is fine but you're straining yourself too hard to try and minimize her impact on the industry as well as pop culture and music. All that needs to be said.

I loved the S&M performance tbh -- I don't mind the lip-synching for the chrous but she could have sung SOME of it live (at least).

I'm sure you know the reason's why Britney era singles were flopping. its because Britney was blacklisted during that on the radio.

I expect you to know the answer to this since you were a big fan back then. She was blacklisted on Clear Channel radio stations during the "Britney" era. Pop refused to play her because of short the leash Clear Channel had on many of the stations. It was all over greed and politics; Britney signed a contract with Pepsi as a promoter for the DWAD Tour over Clear Channel.
Slave, Overprotected, Boys, & Not A Girl were all DEAD upon arrival and never stood a chance. Without radio, her singles were destined to flop.
