- she was almost accused of killing her friend
- A broke her relationship with Alex
- the whole hotel thing with Toby and Spencer
- after Spencer pawns her sister's diamond ring for what she hopes is only 48 hours, A finds the cash to buy it from the pawn shop owner
- A put Ian's phone in Spencer's bag, making Melissa think Spencer was the one who was texting her & pretending to be Ian
- A made Spencer to break up w Toby in the first part of season 2 finale
- A made Spener to break up with Toby yet again after A sent him to hospital
- Spencer is the main target of A being the one he or she has tried the most times to frame or even kill. This is most likely since Spencer is the only one who could ever stand up to Alison
- Spencer has received 19 individual messages from A. out of all 4 girls, Aria has received the fewest messages from A, 15.
Sure, Spencer isnt targeted as much as Emily & Hanna, but she is more than Aria.
I was just saying whenever things happen to her, she nevers seems to get a text from A like the others do. She's recieved 19 on her own? I haven't seen that. I'm watching them all over and so far there's no proof that any of what I've seen was A, we just assume it is first time around because we wouldn't suspect her, that's all I'm saying.
I think she has something to do with Ali's murder.
Marlene King says 'Toby is a liar and Ezra will make a bold move'
The "Pretty Little Liars" finale is just days away - when all of us will finally find out who the mysterious "A" is who has been tormenting the girls all this time. Executive producer Marlene King gives Zap2it a few juicy tidbits about the finale, which she says is "gonna be fun. It's a ride, for sure."
Is the "A" reveal the cliffhanger? Or do we find out before the final frames?
"You get to see that before the final frames. You know who A is definitely before the episode ends. There's more that happens after you find out who A is ... the audience and the girls find out together."
You told us earlier this year that this year's finale Hitchcock homage is for "Psycho." How does that work? Is there a Norman Bates? A Marion Crane?
"There is a Norman bates. We love to pay our homage to the Hitchcock films and just the nature of how this story was starting to unfold really lent itself to a Bates Motel set piece, so we really took advantage of that."
Earlier this week we spoke with producer Lisa Cochran-Neilan and she told us the finale is an ending and a beginning - can you elaborate on that?
"Once you see the episode, you'll understand. We're ending a story that has taken us two years to tell and simultaneously starting a new story that will hopefully take us several years to tell as well."
Speaking of looking ahead, is there a time jump going into Season 3?
"We're holding off on talking about that just yet. I can't really answer that. I'd love to - the answer is fascinating. I can tell you the name of the episode. The name is 'It Happened That Night.'"
One of our favorite storylines this year has been Spencer-Toby-Wren. Will that come to a head in the finale?
"You will find out that Toby has been a pretty little liar. It definitely ties into the Spencer/Toby relationship and the mystery as well."
Will there be any repercussions from Ezra's getting fired and him and Aria possibly sleeping together?
"It's safe to say in the finale that a bold move is made by Ezra Fitz ... but we don't find it out in the finale [exactly why he was fired] and it really isn't playing that heavily in Season 3."
Did Byron rat him out to the Dean?
"He didn't rat him out, but he gave the Dean enough information that he made [Ezra] not a valuable teacher at Hollis anymore."
The "Pretty Little Liars" finale airs Monday night, March 19 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC Family.
Troian on The View: "It's going to be a very fast and exciting ride.. The person who winds up being A is not going to be a disappointment for anybody.."
Can't wait to see the ratings after the finale. EVERYONE will be watching regardless of whether they strictly follow the show or not, just to see who A is.
Insider.com: In the last episode, viewers learn that Jenna can see! What can you tell me about that and her role in the finale?
Marlene King: Jenna is going to continue her charade as long as she can, and she definitely plays a big role in the finale.
Insider: Also, in the last episode, Alison told Spencer not to pay too much attention to the details. In the finale, will the girls realize what's been parked right in front of them?
Marlene: It's fair to say yes.
Insider: All of the couples have had their fair share of torture, but one relationship still remains somewhat unresolved. Will Spencer and Toby share a scene in the finale?
Marlene: Spencer and Toby share a couple of scenes in the finale. It's a lovely story that's completely separate from the "A" storyline.
Insider: In the finale, are the girls going to get an explanation from "A" or will that be a lingering question to be answered in season 3?
Marlene: One reason I'm so excited about sharing the finale with the fans is that they don't just find out who "A" is. They find out why "A" is "A." The viewers know long before the last scene and it's a relief.
Insider: Speaking of season 3, can we expect another time jump like in the second half of season 2 or will the story pick up where it left off?
Marlene: We're not going to talk much about the next season, but there is a really big cliffhanger that launches season 3.
Insider: The fans are dying to know more about Aria and Ezra. Can you tell me a little about their scene in the finale?
Marlene: Aria and Ezra share a special scene in the finale. As somewhat of a spoiler, I've also tweeted that Lady Antebellum's Just A Kiss will play a part in their moment together. It's a beautiful scene.
Insider: Do we learn more about Maya and her situation?
Marlene: Yes, there is a resolution to the Maya storyline in the finale.
Insider: Will Alison make an appearance in the finale?
Marlene: Yes. Absolutely. She plays an important role in finding out who "A" is.

MARLENE KING REVEALS JUICY CLUES ABOUT THE PRETTY LITTLE LIARS SEASON 2 FINALE (EXCLUSIVE)
Pretty Little Liars: What was the process of choosing ‘A’ like — did you choose a culprit right from the start or did a suspect pop up later on?
Marlene King: No, it was decided from the beginning. We knew who A was going to be when the pilot was made. We wanted to be very careful and very sure that when it was decided that we would reveal ‘A’ it felt like the only way to do it was to be committed to who A was from the get go so we could be smart about it and not make mistakes in terms of — we want to make sure it all makes sense and feels very truthful and real.
Pretty Little Liars: Was the show’s ‘A’ at all influenced by the books?
Marlene King: [laughs] There are books to Pretty Little Liars?! Just kidding.
Pretty Little Liars: [laughs] We know — we see your entertaining conversations with Sara Shepard on twitter! Did you consult with her at all when you were choosing ‘A’?
Marlene King: No, I didn’t. Sara watches the show and I know that she originally read the pilot. And she’s been on the show and even did a cameo. Then, we named the Kristen August Rehabilitation Center For The Blind, the school that Jenna attended, after Sara’s son. We enjoy paying homage to Sara as much as possible but I don’t know if she knows who A is. She might have found out from her friends there at Alloy though.
Pretty Little Liars: [laughs] Trust us — we’re trying really hard to stay in the dark about who ‘A’ is to avoid accidentally spilling it! On that note, got any clues as to who the culprit behind all those threatening texts is?
Marlene King: I cannot. [laughs] I wish I could. I feel like we’re all clued out. What I can say though that when the Pretty Little Liars all read the script — we didn’t give them the script ahead of time. They read it at the table read. It was just unanimous. People were just floored and extremely happy about the decision to make ‘A’ the person that it is.
Pretty Little Liars: How will viewers feel by the end of the final episode?
Marlene King: I’ve seen the finale probably twenty times now and every time I watch it I’m exhausted when it’s over. People have asked me, “How will we feel when it’s over?” and I tell them, “Exhausted.” It’s a roller coaster ride that gives you more than just who A is.
Pretty Little Liars: Will there be any noteworthy cliffhangers?
Marlene King: There is one huge cliffhanger and we’re definitely ending one chapter of PLL — to use the books as a metaphor — and starting another one on ‘A’ day as everybody is calling it right now.
Pretty Little Liars: The ‘A’ reveal is certainly an exciting part of the finale but we also just as thrilled about the masquerade set. Can you tell us a little more about the party scene?
Marlene King: Of course! Well, Rachel Kamerma, who is our production designer, really knocked it out of the park with this one. We felt, thematically, since A was going to be unmasked that a masquerade ball just felt so appropriate. So [Rachel] designed something and ust completely blew us away. It’s magical but at the same time it exudes a an ‘A haunting, fairy tale’ feel and Rachel really brought that to life. It’s not a ‘happy endings’ sort of magical — it has more of a Grimm’s fairy tale vibe.
Pretty Little Liars: It seems like no masquerade ball on television ever ends well. Gossip Girl, Vampire Diaries and now Pretty Little Liars!
Marlene King: [laughs] This one definitely doesn’t end well for ‘A’!
Pretty Little Liars: We recently interviewed Brendan Robinson who raved about all the tributes you, Normal Buckley and the creative team make to Hitchcock? The season 1 finale, where Spencer is trapped in the bell tower with Ian Thomas, has a Vertigo vibe. Which Hitchcock film will you focus on for the season 2 finale?
Marlene King: Once we started to pound out what the story was going to be and we knew exactly what the story was going to be we started looking for our Hitchcock homage for this year’s finale. And this episode felt so ripe for a Psycho set piece. We have Rosewood’s version of the Bates motel and it plays very importantly in the finale.
Pretty Little Liars: Speaking about homages, PLL is a very book-friendly show. Do you purposely select certain novels and use them as clues?
Marlene King: Whenever we can, we like to use literary references either thematically or as clues or as just texture for the tone of what that episode or that group of episodes is going to be about.
Pretty Little Liars: Looking back at season 2, are there any episodes that deserve a re-watch. All of them deserve a re-watch of course but are there any that are especially peppered with clues?
Marlene King: The Vivian Darkbloom ones for sure! Any episode that references Vivian Darkbloom or talks about Vivian Darkbloom is probably a great episode to watch again and pick up on subtle clues you might have missed the first time around.
Pretty Little Liars: Have you and the writers emotionally struggled with any specific scenes this season?
Marlene King: Definitely! There is a scene in the finale that when I watch it it stills makes me cry. and I think that fans will get it as soon as they see the finale they’ll know what that scene is and why it’s so so heartbreaking.
Pretty Little Liars: Maintaining a relationship in Rosewood isn’t easy at all, However, will any of the couples on the show enjoy a little happiness?
Marlene King: There are some happy endings. I won’t say which couples get the happy endings but I will say that at least one of our couples embraces a happy ending in this finale.
Marlene King: Pretty Little Liars ''A'' Reveal Is ''Not Random,'' Talks NAT Club - Exclusive
Wetpaint Entertainment: How do you feel getting to reveal this big thing after two seasons?
Marlene: I'm really excited. When we initially made the decision to do it, we were all sort of a little bit nervous. But then once we committed to revealing who “A” was, I think the nerves went away, and we all just got super enthusiastic and excited about it.
Would you have wanted to maybe spread it out over the third season as well?
No. We have so much more to talk about and deal with in Season 3. Because we've already broken most of the season, we know what Season 3 is, but I feel like we're revealing “A” at the exact right time.
I've hear various things from your cast, but have you always known who "A" is?
Yes, always.
From episode one?
From episode one. And we embraced that very early on because we wanted to make sure that it's not just a device in the show. “A” is a real character. “A” has a motivation for all of “A”'s evil deeds, and we wanted to make sure that — I think that's why people have really embraced it so much. It's not random at all. “A” has a purpose.
As a TV watcher, I'm so scared that you're going to tell me, and I'm going to be like, so what?
I hope not. I feel like because you find out who “A” was, but you also find out why “A” has been doing what “A” has been doing. And I think that, for me, as a viewer, that's what I like. It's not random in any way. It's been very thoughtful, and “A” is a character on the show that I think people know enough to care about being “A” actually.
Will you address Alison's murder?
Yes, we address Alison's murder, but the mostly the finale is about “A.”
Are there any episodes that you'd like for people to go back and see before they watch the finale?
I can't quote the episodes by number, but I do think the Vivian Darkbloom story line is definitely a part of how we discover, unmasking “A.”
I assume you've been dropping hints throughout the entire thing?
We've been dropping hints throughout the whole thing, and I will say that you — especially this last season — once you know who “A” is, when you go back, you'll hear certain things that person said, and you'll be like, oh, my gosh, it was right there all along.
Red herrings. I assume there's a ton?
There are always red herrings. We have so much fun with it. I think we just love to convince you that you have it all figured out just to tell you, oh, my gosh, there's something I didn't see. Or there's a twist I wasn't expecting. That is just the fun of mystery and the fun of PLL.
Anything we can say about the perceived bad guys, Jenna, Melissa, that crew?
The NAT club as we call them?
Yes.
The NAT club that we refer to as anybody who was in Ali's room the night she was murdered. And the NAT club stays very much a presence in the show. We haven't heard the last of them.
TORREY DEVITTO spills some tea on her character, Melissa
Insider.com: Did you laugh over the fact that Melissa's videotape reveal happened so closely timed to the Vampire Diaries mini-cliffhanger, revealing Meredith's gun-happy tendencies?
Torrey DeVitto: [laughs] I know, right? Obviously that wasn't planned but it worked out rather perfectly. I get so many Tweets asking me why I have to always play such a crazy, psychotic, weird woman! I guess that's just my M.O. these days.
Insider: Let's start with Melissa -- what are you excited for fans to see in these final episodes?
Torrey: She's got a lot of exciting things coming up. Like I've always said, her relationship with Spencer is interesting on its own, but after they saw her on that videotape, things go in a direction that I think people will like. Things will keep unfolding and there are some more shocks coming with her. There's so much there you haven't seen. Plus, it'll be interesting to see how Melissa and Spencer handle things that are coming up -- we'll find out if there is more to this sisterly rivalry than previously thought.
Insider: What was it like when they told you that Melissa would get involved in the Alison murder mystery?
Torrey: I don't know anything until the script is literally in my hands. I ask all the time and no one tells me anything. So I was just as surprised when Melissa showed up in the video. But I love it. As an actor, it's so much fun to play a character with some kind of mystery. You never want to play the boring person – and in real life, I'm not a murder suspect, so it's fun to do something totally opposite. For Melissa's sake, I just want to know what's going on with her because there have been so many ups and downs since the show started.
Insider: That said, did learning of her NAT involvement make you look back on any acting choices you'd previously made with regret?
Torrey: I say that all the time. When I get scripts I'll go up to Marlene [King, creator] and say, "I wish I knew…" But she's very clear that they don't tell us this stuff because they don't want us to play it like that. We're told what we need to know per scene and that makes sense. If I knew that Melissa would be on that videotape, I would have probably played into that. They're very smart with how they hand information out.
Marlene King Talks Pretty Little Liars Season 2 Finale: There's ''Big'' Relationship Reveals - Exclusive
Wetpaint Entertainment: On a completely separate topic, what's been the reaction between Aria and Ezra having their first time on screen?
Marlene: As far as I've seen, it's been all positive. I haven't seen one negative tweet or Facebook posting about it. So people seem to be happy that they're not just eating take-out food in Ezra's apartment.
Why did you feel it was necessary to do it at this point in time?
It just felt like, again, that this couple was doing a lot of eating in Ezra’s apartment, and it was time to say, this is a mature relationship with two mature people in it. And this is what mature people sometimes do.
Do we have time to explore any of the relationships in the finale, or is it too packed?
No. What I'm really proud of regarding the finale is that it’s definitely mystery heavy, but at the same time we found that balance to do what I really love about Pretty Little Liars is also have some great relationships, Spoby moments in that way. Every couple is serviced in the finale. Every couple gets a moment to show us where they are in their relationship and possibly change their relationship. And there's some definitely big relationship reveals in the finale.
Is there hope for Spoby?
There's always hope for Spoby. I love Spoby.
More so than Spencer and Wren?
No. I love them all. But Spoby has always felt like a special place in my heart because I just loved the connection they had over that Scrabble game. It's always at the forefront to me of my mind when I wrote those scenes. It was like such a fun thing to throw these two characters together, and say, is this going to work or not? And it just worked so beautifully.
What about Hanna and Caleb because they seem to have had a smooth relationship as of late?
They have had a smooth ride. I was just talking about that with someone. Those two have gotten off easy this year. So they'd better beware. Be warned. We have not given them too much trouble.
What about the shippers. Do you care what fans love? Do you listen to whether they love Wren or Toby?
Sure, absolutely. Look the shippers are a huge part of the success of the show. They're passionate about their characters and their couples. Sometimes I think they don't understand that good drama doesn't always have a happy ending, and that's tough I think for the shippers. But they are the most passionate fans that we could hope for. The shippers are our friends.
Was there anything you've been surprised about, fan reaction wise? Like an obsession that you just didn't see coming?
Well, when Aria first kissed Jason. I think that was in Season 2. Lucy and I were together that night on set, and we did not in any way expect that storm, that shipper storm to hit us in the way that it did. So that was sort of the unexpected. This is how the shippers are invested in this couple and this show.
Pretty Little Liars' Marlene King Says Season 3 Will Be ''A Brand New Mystery'' - Exclusive
Wetpaint Entertainment: Is it safe to say that there are elements of this season that will go on into Season 3?
Marlene: I think it's safe to say that, for myself, when I watch the finale, which I've seen now at least 20 times, I'm emotionally exhausted every time it's over. When we showed the episode to our composer, he was like, “Oh my God.” I'm exhausted. And he was so excited to go write the music for this. It's like just when you think it's over, it's not over. And then it's not over again.
How would you tease Season 3?
Season 3 is going to be — you know, it's Pretty Little Liars. We know our world, and we know our girls. But revealing who “A” is has sort of given us a chance to sort of hit the reset button. The first episode of Season 3 feels a lot like the pilot, and it's really fun to sort of reinvent this world and reinvent these mysteries and sort of give ourselves a shot of adrenaline for Season 3.
Is it still the same mystery, just different elements of it?
No. You will find out, there is a huge new mystery uncovered in the finale.
Like relevant to “A”?
Not relevant to — when it's revealed in the finale, it's a brand new mystery.
I can't wait for season three. I'm so curious.
Oh, good. It's going to be fun. We had just like the best time breaking those stories. If we are happy and excited, then I think it usually translates to the viewers being happy too.
‘Pretty Little Liars’ Season Finale Scoop: Marlene King Reveals How ‘A’ Will Be Unmasked
I’ve got good some very good news for Pretty Little Liars fans — especially those of you with anxiety issues: creator Marlene King promises HollywoodLife.com we won’t have to wait until the final moments of the March 19 season finale to find out who “A” is! ”You’ll have time to process it and understand it as the girls are processing it and understanding it,” she teases.
There’s a popular rumor online that “A” will be revealed only to the audience, and not the girls, but Marlene is happy to say that’s not true.
“The audience and the ‘PLLs,’ as we call them, will all find out together,” she confirms.
So who will remain in the dark about “A,” even after the finale? The girls’ parents, of course!
“[The finale is] more about the PLLs,” Marlene says. “It’s a very PLL-centric episode. Their families don’t play a huge part in it.”
And speaking of finding things out, Marlene says the finale contains a major discovery that just might make for the creepiest scene in Pretty Little Liars history.
“One of the characters uncovers ‘A”s lair, and your jaw will drop to the floor,” she says. “[That scene] gives me goosebumps. It’s creepier than the dolls.”
Also, Marlene invites fans to go back and re-watch every episode of Pretty Little Liars after “A” is revealed because, she promises, every random plot point will suddenly make sense.
“‘A’ has never changed from the get-go,” she tells me. “It was designed to be that way so that when we revealed it, it would make sense. I don’t think we have any holes we have left to fill!”
PRETTY LITTLE LIARS’: THREE BURNING QUESTIONS ANSWERED!
What’s better than an in-office visit from a Pretty Little Liar? If I may douchily answer myself: A visit from TWO Pretty Little Liars. And that’s exactly what happened to me yesterday when Lucy Hale and Troian Bellisario stopped in to film a quick video (which I’ll share with you Monday!), make me laugh (you’ll see…), and answer some of your burning questions! Check ‘em out:
Are Spencer and Toby going to work things out? I miss them! — Emily
Quote:
Toby’s back in the finale. But “work things out”? Unlikely, from the sounds of it. “We find out where Toby really stands in the finale,” teases Bellisario. “And I will say that it’s shocking and perhaps not completely to Spencer’s liking.” (Hale offered her theory: “He’s a woman!” But Bellisario retorted, “With those abs!? What woman has those abs!? It’d be like a GNC commercial.”)
I’m calling it now: Jenna’s “A.” There’s no way she can’t be! Am I right? — Sara
Quote:
Maaayyybbeee. And maybe not. I can’t say. But I can tell you that she definitely rises to the top of the Liars’ suspect list after they become privy to the truth about her sight. “She was somewhat off our radar, [but] she’s definitely at the top of the suspect list” says Hale. “All the suspects are in the finale,” adds Bellisario. “And when we figure out [Jenna's secret] … it’s a big shock.”
What’s the early intel on season 3 of Pretty Little Liars? — Larsen
Quote:
The girls don’t know much about what’s in store when they go back to work on April 2 — except that they won’t be sporting much clothing! “[Executive producer] Marlene [King] texted us saying that we were going to be in bikinis in the first episode,” Bellisario dishes. “It was funny, she texted us literally as I was sitting down to brunch, and my French-toast plate arrived. So I took a picture of it and said, ‘What am I supposed to do with this then!?’ Marlene’s awesome, though. She was like, ‘EAT IT!’”
The character that dies is male so it only can be Noel, Ezra, Byron, Caleb, Toby, Lucas or Jason but they are beloved so it makes it only (IMO) Toby, Caleb, Ezra and maybe Jason and Lucas. Marlene also said that Ezra will show up on aria's doorstep and it will be surprising b/c it's "risky to do". So then it can be Caleb, Toby and then Jason or Lucas.
