Current plan:
Late December: Tehran and some smaller, more touristic cities in Iran. About a week. Possibly bringing parents with me.
New Years Eve: Qatar. 3 days.
Early January: India; (New) Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai. 2 week
Late January: Myanmar; Yangon and more remote places. A week and a half.
Early February: Singapore; half a week or so
Early February: Hong Kong and Macao; a week and a half
Late February: Taiwan; two weeks
Early March: Shanghai; week
Rest of March: trainride from Shanghai to Lhasa. 2 to 3 weeks.
Early April: Nepal; 3 weeks.
Late April to mid May: train through West-China and possibly Mongolia to North-East-China. 3 weeks.
Late May to mid June: South Korea. 3 weeks.
Mid June to mid July: train from south to north in Japan. 4 weeks.
Mid July to mid August: train from Wladiwostok to Moscow. 4 weeks.
I expect it to cost about 15k in total... but perhaps I should skip Myanmar for example (anyone has experience on this?). Any tips on cutting down costs or whether I overestimate/underestimate the time I spend in a place? Is the total cost realistic, with low budget stays (hostels for students) and mid-budget food (restaurants for dinner)?

HOW are you doing this?
I've never been to any of these regions but a few places that are pretty popular:
Dubai/Abu Dhabi. Dubai seems like it may be more fun for New Years but that's just a guess
Goa in India. You could spend way more than 2 weeks in India tbh and it's really cheap there
Sri Lanka is right off the coast of India, it might be worth a visit
Yangon is on my list! It seems to get ignored by a lot of people so I hope you make it
Kuala Lumpur/Malaysia deserve a few days. Singapore is expensive so you could save money by going to KL for a few days
Bali is a cheap flight away from KL, everyone seems to love it
There are so many places in Southeast Asia to see! You're skipping Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam (and Laos) which all are cheap and have a lot to do. ANGKOR WAT DEFINITELY
Two weeks in Taiwain is too much imo, same with a week in Shanghai. What aobut Beijing & the Great Wall?
So much time in trains and remote places
These areas are probably safe but it'd be hard to communicate if you don't know the language. Plus internet is most likely slow so you may not have a connection to people back home.
Three weeks in South Korea is kind of a lot imo but there is a lot do there. Same with Japan
I'd say spend more time in cheap places like India and Southeast Asia and less in South Korea/Japan, specifically Tokyo.
