First of all, I'm going to review this album thinking that this is not the same Calvin Harris who created disco and was ready for the weekend
Not a bad album, but if we compare it to his previous 2 almbums then it's trash
My review:
01.- Green Valley: 9/10.- Nice intro. I would love it more with some Calvin Harris vocals on it but it reminds me of an old song from "I Created Disco" or "Ready for the Weekend". Calvin used to put songs like this on his albums and that was amazing! This is like the old Calvin Harris, that's why I love this song!
02.- Bounce (feat. Kelis): 9/10.- 1 year ago I hated this song (for being the first Calvin Harris' song without his amazing vocals
) but now I think I love it! Although this song was the beginning of the decline of the Calvin's good music it sounds very fresh
03.- Feel so Close: 10/10.- What can I say about this song? My fave song from 2011! I feel so close to this song
This is probably the last Calvin single with his amazing vocals and that makes me very sad
Best song on this album!
04.- We Found Love (feat. Rihanna): 8/10.- My fave Rihanna song ever! I like it, but it's far from being the best Calvin Harris production...
05.- We'll Be Coming Back (feat. Example): 10/10.- The 2nd best song on this album! I hate Calvin collaborations but this is perfect, amazing, incredible! When I was losing all my love for Calvin then he released this electronic masterpiece
Only because of this song I'm still a Calvin Harris fan
06.- Mansion: 9/10.- The same as "Green Valley"
It's like listening to the old Calvin
but this is even better than Green Valley! I love this!
07.- Iron (with Nicky Romero): 10/10.- Calvin singing again!!!
Only because of those little vocals of Calvin this is my 3rd fave song from "18 Months"
but Nicky Romero also gets credit, he's amazing! Calvin should work with more artists like Nicky... or Example
08.- Need Your Love (feat. Ellie Goulding): 3/10.- I like Ellie... but this song is really boring, and bad
One of the worst songs on "18 Months"...
09.- Drinking From The Bottle (feat. Tinie Tempah): 10/10.- Apart from the singles and "Iron" this is the only song that is amazing
Calvin did an awesome work on this... and Tinie too! I love the "I'm in it busy looking for the next top model..." part
Next single please! then "Iron"... and then a new album because there aren't more good songs on this
10.- Sweet Nothing (feat. Florence Welch): 9/10.- Good song, but not the best. The fact that this song reached the #1 in the UK and "We'll Be Coming Back" or "Feel so Close" no... is really sad
Love those beats
10.- School: 10/10.- The same as "Green Valley" or "Mansion", it's like listening to the old Calvin Harris
but from those 3 songs this is my fave
So simple, but incredible! Some Calvin vocals would have made it even more perfect, though :/
11.- Here 2 China (with Dillon Francis feat. Dizzee Rascal): 4/10.- What the hell is this mess?
"Dace Wiv Me" & "Holiday" with Dizzee were awesome, and I was expecting something good again, but this is bad
2nd worst song on "18 Months".
12.- Let's Go (feat. Ne-Yo): 6/10.- Worst Calvin Harris' single ever
Not a fan of Ne-Yo, but he's not the problem. This song is generic as hell, doesn't sound like Calvin
13.- Awooga: 10/10.- Awooga is the ****
Crazy beats! This is better than 90% of "18 Months"
14.- Thinking About You (feat. Ayah Marar): 8/10.- Flashback is 1000 times better
I was expecting more from Ayah. It's not a bad song, but it's the same sound all the whole song....
Best Song: Feel so Close
Worst Song: I Need Your Love
Best song without vocals: Awooga
Best song with a featured artist: We'll Be Coming Back
Rate:
8.92/10
It was better than I thought it would be
but considering that "I Created Disco" & "Ready For The Weekend" were both "10" albums this is a big letdown
Please release a 4th album, but with your vocals Calvin, or you will lose a fan
