To think I always ignored this song in the early years of my standom. I knew it existed, but I also didn't feel that great about American Pie either. I figured if THIS was the also-ran from the Next Best Thing project, it wasn't worth looking into.
One day in early 2007, I was on William Orbit's website for whatever reason. He had all of these instrumentals of his past work posted and I saw Time Stood Still on there. I clicked it, and those opening five seconds or so completely sold the song. I stopped the instrumental and downloaded Time Stood Still immediately and thank God for that. It entered the picture right before a very difficult time in my life, and the mood of the song and its message were exactly what I needed.
