Garbine finishes the year as #7. Would have been #9 with a loss today. So she's certainly not too upset with losing that set
She may have been better off outside the top 8 for the next slam. She tends to perform ever so slightly worse against the lower ranked players compared to the bigger names . But of course a higher ranking is always cute. Just a little sad to see she regressed. Didn't she end last year at 3?
True she displayed great tennis last year, I was so amazed . But she took too long to show it, she actually lost twice that tournament and you don't have that luxury to fix your game mid tournament like that at the slams so idk if she can do it
