It's not doing bad, but great neither. It's doing ok imo.

You're already condemning the song after a month.
Did We Found Love and Diamonds get massive airplays the first weeks ? Did they both immediately debut on top of the charts ? And keep in mind that Gaga, contrary to Rihanna, has never been a radio queen.
I'm not saying it will be massive, but at least lets wait and see.

It shouldn't change the hype that should carry any lead single on radios by big artist.
That being said, still can't believe MTN didn't do well, it's actually one of the best tracks on BTW.

Not for Gaga. Her last singles on The Fame and The Fame Monster were huge hits. Coming off the singles of Born This Way and their poor radio performances (sans TEOG), finally watching a Gaga single actually grow is something to cheer about. Sorry bout it.
Also, it's been stated many times that now it's apparent Gaga can't front-load a single on just her name. So I'm failing to see how that relates to the conversation of Applause growing on radio? Care to elaborate?

Just calm down. Were you seriously expecting the song to do very bad? Definately not.
|
c'mon, just admit it.
most of ATRLers already write off this song as flop when it got its second negative update.
don't lie. People say she is already over, and applause will flop hard, out of top 10 after 1 week after VMA, and it will plummet hard on radio
don't pretend you're not one of them

inb4 the typical Navy response;
"Rihanna never does great the first week! She always grows! Gaga should be able to sell a single on her name! So it's bad! Ha ha!"
Nnnnn I can't with these one-sided arguments.

They can't be excited about a couple good updates? I mean , isn't that what they're here for?
Applause is doing great, it's slow but it's been growing and it's stable on iTunes.

not trying to drag the navy, but that's true.
I mean BTW made Gaga looks like she can pull huge number in first week but actually gaga has only done it with BTW and TEOG. Other than that, all her debut week sales are low.
Applause is released one week earlier, less hyped than BTW, and come off from one of her underperforming era. So it is expected

I wouldn't say it was expected. But it's obviously reality.
The Navy should be the last people commenting on Gaga's sales power though, seeing as Rihanna has been relevant for about 10 years, a huge name, yet has only been front-loaded with 1 album.

It wasn't connected to our previous converstion, I was simply crashing to your converstion with I'mRihannaFan, kinda obivious, nope?
As for BTW/TF/TFM.
Not every era will get all hits with the singles which are released, Obiviously those two albums are GaGa's better ones and is why anything she released went high, esp' after JD and PF got her ton of hype. I was stanning at those eras.
Than came BTW and well, you know.. It still doesn't change the fact her lead single from ARTPOP should be doing better. The amount of hype. The radio deal. In the end it still comes down to music and Applause isn't matching her good stuff. It's down there with BTW's better tracks and that's not alot coming form her IMO.
I hate name dropping but if you want to take a look at Britney's Blackout>Circus era and how Womanizer did when GM was the only hit on radios [Both POM & BTI were only moderate]. She's the only one I can think of the top of my hat as an example.

and it just proves that monsters are not the largest fanbase as ATRL thinks.
most of gaga's sales come from casual fans and GP, like the pac-man chart popjustice pointed out

I can't with too many pages
Monsters will never learn, right? Ok, I don't mean all of them, because there are a group which is soo cool and I appreciate them but then, you have this other group that.. I'm thinking they are so angry because Lady Gaga is 'underperforming' for her standars, and now that she is surprisingly getting good updates (and I'm very happy for that) they just take an advantage of the situation for being the same and 'drag' the other's faves, just because they have the chance to do it
But oh well, whatever, good for Applause, I like a lot the song
