Charli XCX on Live! with Kelly & Micheal

Charli XCX made an appearance on abc's Live! with Kelly & Micheal as part of her promotion of 'Alone in the Dark' the new single off her upcoming still untitled sophomore album. She first performed an impressive performance of 'Alone in the Dark'. Wearing a black fishnet top with a pattern shirt underneath it as well as white short shorts and black platform boots, she started to sing 'Alone in the Dark' right after they presented her. She didn't dance a lot except for a few moves but she did sing with a beautiful voice the song. After the soft performance ended she sat down for the interview.

We're happy you're here as well. You've released your single so suddenly! We were expecting something new sometime soon but why did you choose to keep it such a secret for so long?
Well cause I was nearly done with it only like 2 weeks ago! Really, we didn't have time to give it a proper announcement but it was the perfect time to release the single. I'm happy it was well received by Many!

Rolling Stones magazine called your song a 'masterpiece', how do you feel when you reach critical success like that?
I don't feel anything! I mean I respect their opinion and I'm happy they like the song but personally I loved the song all the way so anyone's opinion doesn't really matter to be honest.

You don't care about your fans' opinions?
Yes I do, to a certain level. I'm happy with the fact that they like my music and but then i really don't care when people criticizes things i think i did great in.

You're signed to the same label as Beyonce! Do you like her? Is she some sort of inspiration to you?
Yeah, I mean who doesn't?! I love her latest album as well even though I would never do something like that myself. She isn't really an inspiration, we really are different artists even though i did write a little bit for 'Count The Kills'. I find people like Madonna, Beyonce & Marilyn Manson more of a inspiration then beyonce.

Did you have a specific inspiration for this new album?
Maybe Sky Ferreira... Yeah, she's great she's a nice friend as well. But really I jsut kept my own sound.

Do you write a lot of music?
Yeah, really loads of songs, I write everywhere, right before i got here, in the car i wrote 2 new songs. Sometimes it's just small, short & sweet pop songs that i write in 10 minutes and other times they can be complicated complextro songs. I like to experiment. Obviously not all songs I write are to be sold or for my own work.
