Serena does have the record for most grand slams (in the open era) and most consecutive weeks too.

And you said last year Vinci did Serena in and she would never win another slam yet she won Wimbledon and made two other finals. She'll win at least one next year (most likely Wimbledon). You're predictions are almost as bad as mine!

Where do you guys stand on the best of 5 or best of 3 discussion?

I'm really on team BO3 now. There is no reason to play 5 sets, it's too long, it's super bad for selling tv rights, stadium especially at these US Open was empty at the end of night sessions, because it's so damn long and it's really more of a fitness contest at the end than a tennis match.

BO3 with no tiebreaker. But that would never happen because "tradition" or whatever the heck the ITF would throw out. The players council has to push for it.

Stay as it is. Cutting down sets kills the excitement, the possibilities, and the emotion of matches.

As matter of fact i'm for the female matches catching up with the male's. In a lot of female matches I get the sense they had much more to offer and the competition was cut short.

Not it heightens the excitement and emotion. In a best of 5 the first 2 or even 3 sets are really not that important.

I agree but it wouldn't be feasible or slams would need to be 3 weeks long now. The best imo would be Best of 3 until QF/SF and then Best of 5 tbh.

I very much disagree. It allows players to overcome themselves and the rivals, and demands more consistency and mental/physical stability of the players, which is a very good thing.

When a match goes 5-sets it's when when we're witnessing tennis at its best, so it surprises me that people would want to cut it short.

I'm also here for slams being longer and more curated. We need to cut some of these random ones no one really watches or even attends, and updrading a couple so we have 5/6 grand slams in the season

We're never getting an additional slam I think, the 4 have too much of history adding a 5th one would be so weird and disregarded by players. But yeah slams being longer could be a possibility, although we do need the "random ones" because that's how future great matures and wins cheap points to climb up the ranking, plus ATP events, even 250 are fairly well attended. It's WTA who's struggling and if we're being honest I'm a huge fan of tennis but even I would not attend some of the WTA internationals because I know the quality of tennis just won't be there.

It's just too damn long and I strongly disagree that a focus on physicality is a good thing in a tennis match.

Yeah a 5th set is great if both players are still capable of playing their best, but a 3rd and final set is just as great.
