Take it easy on our British stans gerls. The slow rise in the iTunes chart is out of their hands. Unlike the 17 other countries it was released in, UK iTunes didn't put a full banner up until a full day later almost. Not to mention the banners everywhere around the world, they were the first ads you see, and for a good amount of time at that. Whereas in the UK, Britney's ad is like the last one. The blame for this solely lies on Jive Records for poorly mishandling this release. There were just better off releasing the song in the UK next or the week afterward, instead of releasing it the same week as an exploding Bruno and a nationwide favorite in Adele. Jive dropped the ball with the UK release....AGAIN, just like they have done the past two eras.

you cant compare UK itunes to all those small markets, even the bigger ones like Australia. You have to sell like 20,000 over a 3 day period to get #1 in the UK at this time of year, in all those other countries (especially the likes of Portugal,Luxembourg etc) you probably only need to sell barely 500 copies. Britney is huge in the US and she got instant massive airplay but she can't get that in the UK because she's not really an established artist(as such) so thats why shes not doing so well. Even with her massive UK stan base, there are 10 songs abover on the charts because they're being played all over the UK, HIAM isn't.

Of course you can't compare Portugal's iTunes with UK's, but I mean, UK has much more habitants and Britney lovers than we do, so I thought it'd be easier for her to get that #1. But I understood your point and you're right, still hoping she grabs that #1!

Yes it's #45 with only like 3 days and lemme say that her other singles had a rough time debuting in the chart and HIAM just with three days made it. I am proud of my country for once.

As reported last week, the video for Britney‘s “Hold It Against Me” will be directed by Jonas Åkerlund.

On a side note, for those also tracking the ties between Britney’s upcoming studio album and Madonna‘s Ray Of Light, this is yet another curious connection: Akerlund is the same director responsible for the “Ray Of Light” video. Hmm!

So, there you go: I’ve now Excluusively broken the news about the “Hold It Against Me” release date on December 2, the name of the song on December 7, and the video director last Friday. I’M JUST SAYING.

Oh, and yes–you can trust that whatever news I’ve counted as an Excluusive (like, say, posts involving certain award shows) still stands strong.
