North Carolina: Democrats plan early voting rally
A Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate will be in town today to attend an early voting kickoff event.
Deborah Ross — the Democratic challenger to incumbent U.S. Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C. — will be on hand at a rally to help muster Rocky Mount voters to participate in early voting.
N.C. Rep. Shelly Willingham, D-Edgecombe, N.C. Sen. Angela Bryant, D-Nash, and others will host the event at 11:30 a.m. at the St. James Baptist Church Fellowship Hall at 527 E. Thomas St. in Rocky Mount.
Local Democrats have made plans to drive Rocky Mount residents to Nashville for the first week of early voting beginning Oct. 20 since the Rocky Mount early voting site doesn't open until Oct. 27.
Edgecombe County has two Rocky Mount sites for early voting beginning Oct. 20.
Anyone who needs transportation to vote early on Oct. 20 in Nashville or thereafter or anyone willing to volunteer to help with Democrat canvassing, phone banking or transportation can call 252-446-2378.
