Is it commonplace for the grammy's to nominate an album with only 8 tracks, basicall an EP for Album of the Year? I guess i never really considered her being truly qualified (though she was nominated) because it just didn't seem like an odd re-release / EP belonged in such a category, and that the nomination was made to attach her name to the category for ratings..... ironic, considering i'm not cynical at all...

But this thread has me rethinking things. Obviously, quality wise she should be in the forefront and when you take into account that they might consider her "overdue" for last years lookover, she could gain the "this is for your entire carrer" vote as well.....This is the first time i've considerd her being a formidable opponent for AOTY

Adele is an incredible artist. That is what I am hoping for. (and I will never forget that moment when she won) I don't really care who wins as long as Justin Bieber doesn't win.

Paul Grein from Yahoo says it's the first EP to ever be nominated. But shorter albums have been nominated (even Amy Winehouse's Back To Black was shorter in time length).

A tiny bit OT, but ya'll mentioned Gaga's likely competition for the 2012 Grammy's to be Kanye. I agree that MBDTF is a masterpiece, but it's hard to tell what's going to happen in the end with him now releasing another new album in the summer & Watch The Throne with Jay in a couple of months. Not sure what his momentum will be like.
