Host commentary - It is so kii-worthy that the song to last the longest from Flaccid Werthers is the song that was written like 3 or 4 years before the album was even a concept (before Confessions even). As such it is by far the strongest lyrical moment of the album and the one instant where I think the production works. Still would have preferred to hear what a producer like William Orbit or Stuart Price would have done with this. Because Timbaland basically turned this into Cry Me A River 0.5.
Guest commentary eli’s_rhythm - good but overrated
Subomie - Probably the most "acceptable" track on the album, and I'm okay with that. It's a good kind of dramatic and I really love the production quirks.
LoveLiveMusic - Another incredible song. The lyrics on this one are haunting, and although released on Hard Candy was written around the time of The Re-invention World Tour. I just love how she was so flawlessly was able to bring the song to live on the Sticky & Sweet Tour as well. When she removed the cape is one of my fave tour moments.
I am DISGUSTED this didn't make top 20. And below "Easy Ride"?? The song about Humoresque as a bottom?

Yes, Hard Candy was Madonna being free and having fun with an album for the first time in over 20 years, possibly since her debut, and I love it for that.
So true. People hate Madonna for being young and sexy in her 50s. Stay pressed!

Host commentary - A truly stunning track and a great album closer. It always tricks me into thinking I listened to a better album than I actually did, but I wouldn't have been mad if this made top 20.
Guest commentary Vilppu - I'm a sucker for orchestral sound, I'm a sucker for ballads, and I'm a sucker for Madonna's softer side. Easy Ride = orchestral sound + ballad + Madonna's softer side which makes it absolutely flawless. Even the more electronic outro is amazing.
Subomie - The only song on the album that combines the acoustic and the industrial sounds in a decent way. Even then it's a bit dodgy at points.
Pandora - This isn’t my fave track from the album but I feel like it's a standout in her entire discography because of the lyrics alone.
mrmikefern - Flawless ending to an endearingly messy and flawed album
Alongoria13 - The outro got me the first time I heard it.
A great song but didn't even deserve top 40 tbh. Replace it with "Spanish Lesson."

Deluded people feeling sorry for American Life, like that flawless album needs their pity.
Reinvention, I lowkey love that you are still kinda pressed about Spanish Lesson. It is to you what Did You Do It? is to LLM. The lone stans. Your taste is just entertaining to me now rather than tragic.

"Spanish Lesson" just has this creepy depth to me underneath its tongue-in-cheek lyrics. A bit like Gaga's "Americano," I feel like she's masking her yearn for love underneath this latin jam. Maybe I'm just deluded and I connected to it strongly once-upon-a-drunken-night.

It's trash.
