Demi Lovato's biggest flaw for me has always been having an edgy lifestyle/background, but lifeless music. From self harm to rehab stays, Lovato, freshly 23, has stayed far away from truly putting her life into the music. The often praised "Skyscraper" reads on paper like a formulaic ballad about overcoming struggles, not raw self-reflection. We have Toby Gad to thank for that, not Lovato herself who merely felt connected to the song.
But now she's turning things up with new single "Cool For The Summer," admittedly a guilty pleasure. From its unapologetic production, lyrics drowned in innuendo and (an attempt at) sultry vocal delivery, "Cool" is more than a notch above "make him bounce like a basketball". She teams up with Max Martin to get her best Spears on but it only half way works.
Why? The music and Lovato still don't sync. Much in the way we can't take Spears seriously when she sings about being in the club and getting to work "bitch," when she's a self proclaimed stay at home mom (now), Lovato says she's a badass and a role model all in one. Which isn't impossible to be, but she doesn't embody either organically.
Thus, "Cool" went from a decent comeback to a turn off. Shaking up your image is Pop Girl 101 for younger girls. You either go balls to the walls like Miley or own your sexuality without force like Selena, known Demi competition. Instead, she wants to kiss the girl and like it, and be the ongoing victim all at the same time. Unfortunately, it's hard to buy that from her.

I think I'll skip E Mo Tion tho. I love it but I'm not gonna spend my time listening to the whole album again..
And, I know it's not official, but will we review Miley Cyrus's new EP ?

Carly Rae Jepsen
E•MO•TION
8/10
After her enormous success in the summer of 2012, Carly Rae Jepsen went off the radar and started working on her third studio album. We were initially expecting an indie/folk album, considering the producers she worked with. I must say, we already have 'Tug of War', so I'm glad she found a brand new style: 80s inspired music.
'E•MO•TION' is a solid pop record. Every song on it makes sense and has its own place. Despite having very little vocal power, Carly managed to deliver more emotions on this record than some powerhouse vocalists out there. The album is a breath of fresh hair for the music industry, and hopefully the next singles will be successful enough for more people to reach it and appreciate it in all its glory.
 | 1. Run Away with Me
This solid pop song is the best way to start off the album. It truly invites you to go on listening to the other tracks with its carefree, anthemic sound. 9/10
2. E•MO•TION
More 00s Europop inspired than an 80s track, the title track can be easily considered the best song on the album. 10/10
3. I Really Like You
Carly stays carefree on the album's lead single, which, let's face it, deserved so much better. 8.5/10
4. Gimmie Love
This track is underwhelming compared to the first free. The production is to week, and it sounds like an unfinished song. 5/10
5. All That
Much slower than the previous songs, "All That" might as well come out straight of the 80s. It does create a beautiful atmosphere, but after a while it just gets boring and flat. 6/10
6. Boy Problems
Co-written by Sia, you don't really get to hear her signature style on this track the album could've lived without. 4.5/10
7. Making the Most of the Night
This song sounds different from all the others. You can almost feel anxiety while listening to it. The chorus is really powerful, and the production is on point. 9/10
8. Your Type
Another flawlessly produced track, yet it sounds like something we've already heard a lot of times. 6.5/10
9. Let's Get Lost
Another fun, carefree song, with the same problem as "Gimmie Love": weak production that makes it sound unfinished. It should've been more synth-driven, in my opinion. 6/10
10. LA Hallucinations
Definitely the weakest chorus and the worst production on the entire album. It sounds like a video game theme song. 2/10
11. Warm Blood
You either love it or hate it. For me, this song is pure eargasm. The chorus truly takes you to another planet. 9.5/10
12. When I Needed You
Judging from the title and from the fact that it's the last song of the standard edition, you would expect a downtempo ballad. Well, this uptempo anthem with "hey"'s in the chorus will positively surprise you. 9/10
13. Black Heart
This song sounds like it could've been included on Kylie Minogue's 'X'. Truly outstanding on the album, it should've been on the standard edition. 9/10
14. I Didn't Just Come Here to Dance
This one is amazing. The chorus, the music, the breakdown... should've been a standard track as well. 9.5/10
15. Favourite Colour
So... how are the deluxe tracks better than the standard ones? "Favourite Colour" is the nostalgic midtempo every album needs. 8.5/10
16. Never Get to Hold You
It's a quite underwhelming and forgettable song, compared to the ones preceding it. 5.5/10
17. Love Again
The last song of the limited edition of the album is a grower. You might not love it initially, but will eventually grow on you. The chorus is everything. 9.5/10 |

We should review Miley's new album! And I'm preparing my CRJ review as I'm writing this. It'll be a really long one.
Honestly, TRF.

Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz
4/10
There's a simple concept everyone needs to understand: being 'experimental' doesn't make your album automatically 'good'. Being 'weird' doesn't make you look more 'artistic'. I'd rather have Miley sing Hannah Montana songs than try to be alternative and sing unlistenable music, which is the case of most of her newly-released mixtape.
'Dead Petz' features some gems, I won't deny it, but overall it sounds extremely cheaply-produced and annoying. The abuse of autotune on this track, the unnecessary dramatic screaming on that one, the amount of snoozefests... the tracks that stand out in this album are just enough to turn it into an EP. This will always remain a kind gift for her fans, and nothing more. Stop being a rebel and work on your new studio album now!
 | 1. Dooo It!
A catchy song, with one only flaw: too much autotune. 8/10
2. Karen Don't Be Sad
A 5-minute long snoozefest. Too slow, flat and boring for a second track. 1/10
3. The Floyd Song (Sunrise)
Boring at the beginning, it gets more exciting towards the end. Still, it's overall just another snoozefest. 4.5/10
4. Something About Space Dude
The third slow song in a row, and definitely the best one. 6.5/10
5. Space Boots
Finally a song with nothing I can complain about! It has flawless lyrics, and it creates a beautiful atmosphere. 10/10
6. ****in ****ed Up
This interlude only changes the atmosphere and prepares the listener to the next track. 5/10
7. BB Talk
All that swearing is a bit unnecessary, but I love the spoken verses and the catchy chorus of this song. 7.5/10
8. Fweaky
Great vocal production. Unlike most of the others mid or downtempo tracks on the album, Miley doesn't sound bored. 8/10
9. Bang Me Box
Generic Mike WILL Made-It production the album could have lived without. 2.5/10
10. Milky Milky Milk
A completely forgettable filler no one is going to want to put on replay. 2/10
11. Cyrus Skies
This song is good, but it's too repetitive. Instead of making it last five minutes, she should've finished it at three. 6/10
12. Slab of Butter (Scorpion)
Catchy chorus, but terribly produced and forgettable verses. 5.5/10
13. I'm So Drunk
A psychedelic interlude that you either love or hate. I personally love it. 8/10
14. I Forgive Yiew
Everything's perfect about this song. The chorus is one of the catchiest. It doesn't even sound cheaply produced... it almost feels like it doesn't even belong with this album. 10/10
15. I Get So Scared
The great lyrics can't save this annoying-sounding song the album could've lived without. 1.5/10
16. Lighter
Good production, but the vocals are flat and boring. 2.5/10
17. Tangerine
As if this song wasn't bad enough, she decided to add Big Sean's nasal voice to ruin it even more. Miley sounds bored, and Sean is recycling already-used verses and already-heard melodies. 0/10
18. Tiger Dreams
As if the snoozefest before this one wasn't enough. 1/10
19. Evil Is But a Shadow
At least she put all the bad songs in blocs. I don't want to become a dead pet too. 0/10
20. 1 Sun
She managed to produce a song that's catchy, yet not generic. Very well done! 8.5/10
21. Pablow the Blowfish
The end is way too overdramatic, but the best thing about this song is that you can't not listen to the lyrics. Truly... original. 8/10
22. Miley Tibetan Bowlzzz
This one is so uneventful I don't even know how to comment it. 1.5/10
23. Twinkle Song
Expect for the ear-ripping screaming part, this is a great song. It's very emotional and catchy. 9/10 |

If a single or album gets three requests, it gets put up for reviews.
BTW, I plan to end Emotion this weekend.

When Hits Daily Double published their article about how bad Miley's upcoming album was, I quickly dismissed it and added it to the growing pile of crap articles HDD has been publishing lately. I love Miley, I defend her wild antics and most importantly, I love BANGERZ and still listen to it from beginning to end.
My first taste of Dead Petz was her VMAs performance with the former Ru Paul Drag Race contestants and winners. I was excited, I was cheering and my wig was ready to be snatched. However, Dooo It was underwhelming, repetitive and uninspired. There are countless songs celebrating weed and most of them are cleverly written and fun. This was in your face and not in a good way. It was lazy. It was cliché. It was mediocre. The second track is Karen Don't Be Sad which sounds like a very bad ripoff of Ben. Now compared to the rest of the album, Karen is probably the only decent track and the only one I would listen to again. Because the rest of the album, using the term "album" very loosely here, sounds like a vanity project because no one can say no to Miley. By the time, I reached Fweaky, I was bored and completely turned off by this disappointing mixtape. Miley keeps saying that she created this with very little outside help. This is something to be proud of if you're Taylor Swift circa Speak Now, not when you're 2015 Miley Cyrus. What upsets me even more is all this time she wasted when she could've been working on the proper following of BANGERZ. There's nothing worst than delusional artists who don't know their limitations. Miley is talented but she isn't talented enough to pull something like this off. At least she tried!
Score: 1/10
