Perhaps her Instagram posts are her way of communicating she's living her life right now w/o completely saying it. Or perhaps she may be tired of promising and it doesn't come. Which is in part due to her label. We all know how excited we get to see Cassie working on a project and then nothing comes to fruition.

Well,
my frustration stems from the fact she claims to have a great relationship with her fans or "the kids" as she calls us; when in fact, there is no communication. It seems like she touts us out when its convenient for her. It's no longer about time tables failing to coincide, but more about
answers. What
is going on?
It's a very delicate thing to balance here: Cassie,
the person, does not owe us an explanation, nor are we entitled to one. But what about Cassie,
the artist and public figure, who has yet to release a sophomore album despite numerous promises? Should she not be held accountable by the very people that she made these promises to, her fans? At the end of the day, she's a major label artist who gained her fame and recognition because of
us.
Cassie goes on doing what she's doing, whatever that is. We are not privy to that information, nor should we be. I think, the question to be asked is not what we as fans are
ENTITLED TO, but what we deserve (sometimes it can be hard to make the distinction between the two); more specifically, is it unreasonable to expect that an artist in the public realm who gained their success in large part, to the public, answer to the public? Is it unreasonable to expect the courtesy of a truthful update in regards to their
work (not their personal life), the very thing that grants them status and fame (bestowed upon by
us) and put them in the spotlight in the first place?
There's just so much grey here, in terms of obligation and responsibility. There is however, one thing that is in stark black and white -- I can only speak for myself, but I would feel a lot better knowing that our shared frustrations would be shared with Cassie. Sometimes, it's not even the outcome, but the act and process of following through on sharing one's thoughts and feelings on a situation. It might just be cathartic for us.
