But you know what, I respect you for not changing your opinion for anybody but yourself.

Because, to quote the LEGENDARY Stacey Snider, you should always judge an artist by their best work. So sometimes I still support her to do my part in helping her stick around, in the hope that she will one day reach the heights of her best work again. Because her best work provided me with a lot of entertainment.
Anyway, it's Friday night and I'm not going to stick around discussing the demise of Lady Gaga. Good luck to MTN cracking the Top 1000.

I think what people need to realize about Born This Way is this:
1. Through The Fame and The Fame Monster, her fans changed Gaga in a way that I don't think she really intended. As Gaga is such a sweet heart who originally played hardass, her love for her fans made her grow soft. Then, when she was done with The Fame Monster, she wrote stuff to inspire her fans.
2. She wrote BTW purely for her fans, the people that she saw in The Monster Ball screaming her name every single night. She made music that she wanted to, and music that she thought would be something her FANS could relate to, not the general public.
3. When it comes to the sound of the music, she went to the clubs, the gays. She made music specifically for the dance community. However, because Gaga wanted to inject some of her into it, she put that rock edge that is either hit or miss depending on the track (Hit: The Edge of Glory; Miss: Electric Chapel).
4. I think Gaga made Born This Way because she knew she was the biggest pop star in the world, and I think ultimately she just wanted to make an impact. So she made something she thought could change pop music. It was a gallant attempt, but it is clear that SONICALLY (pay attention) she didn't really impact music this go-round (in comparison to her debut).
Certainly, the public has become numb to Gaga's antics, which isn't surprising considering she's been in-our-face and building hype for the past 3 years. However, I think it will fluctuate and she will come back (after touring and a break) with a more solid album. She will have an increased public love and interest. However, she will never be what she was in TF/TFM era again.
I think her stans need to calm down a bit. It's so early in her career for us to be having meltdowns like this on the single-basis.

Meltdown after meltdown in this thread. Who will be next?
Gaga earned my respect forever by doing BTW, a true masterpiece that shows her biggest potential as an artist and her peak in musical maturity. I respect more than ever because she released something that she truly wants to do instead of looking for chart success. I think both, she and Interscope, were conscious since the beginning that she wouldn't dominate the charts with the material in BTW, but she still did what she wants and not everybody else wants her to do. I'm sure almost nobody in the industry would do that right now. Well, I have said many times that BTW is her musical peak until now, and that the album is great, so I'm just gonna skip that.
The only way in which Gaga can lose my respect is if she pulls another generic **** like TF just to get back to the charts top positions. If she does that, it would mean, at least for me, that she is more worried about her sales and popularity than her artistry, which would be sad considering all the potential that she still has. If she makes another thing like TFM, that would be repeating herself, and I'm not here for that. If she makes an evolution of TFM, I'm fine .

I hate how people trash talk TF.
The singles were THE ****.
Most that were not given the single treatment were filler.
Her going back to tracks like: JD, PF, LG, Paparazzi wouldn't be that bad.....
I loved all of the singles.

Paper Gansta, Summerboy, BBB, and Disco Heaven were great.
I do miss the whole "Retro Gaga". But oh well.

I'm concerned about MTN's position on iTunes. I bet we all thought by now it would be in the top 1,000. I want a banner ASAP!

Love everything you said. Seriously, what do people expect from a 25 year old who for the first time in her young life was given free reign to create music the way they saw fit? It's a remarkable feat in and of itself that she was able to complete a record such as Born This Way and have the success she has. No one can doubt that "Born This Way", "The Edge of Glory" (her biggest hits this era) are 100% Lady GaGa creations. Yes, she hasn't had the string of #1 singles like she did with TF/TFM, and no, she hasn't blown us away with any of her music videos like she did with her past era. Yet all her singles continue to crack the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, and she is still the most discussed female pop musician out there. It would be hard for anyone to follow up in the footsteps of a giant such as The Fame and The Fame Monster. The fact that Lady GaGa has had a #1 single for 6 consecutive weeks and 3 other tracks hit the top 10 is remarkable. Many artists would love to have that type of era.

I'm not really worried for Marry The Night on iTunes, I'm pretty sure it would smash with the performances. I'm more worried about radio, so I've been requesting like crazy XD Literally.

I loved Summerboy, BBB, Disco Heaven, Retro Dance Freak, Starstruck (Gaga's part at least), and depending on the day money honey as a guilty pleasure.
I wasn't into BDR, The Fame, I Like It Rough, Brown Eyes, Eh eh, or paper ganster AS much as the aforementioned.

"Good singles" does not mean "good album" automatically. TF and TD are great examples of this. An album that is mostly filler can't be considered good at all, at least that's my opinion. I don't feel there's any filler in BTW except for two songs. I agree that the singles from TF are good, but I got very disappointed when I listened the complete TF album. I didn't really find anything interesting excluding Just Dance, Poker Face, and Paparazzi. Yes, I don't like LoveGame either .

I'm not sure that Gaga could have done anything to satiate the expectations that would have followed TFM, seriously. I think Born This Way has done much better than anyone was expecting the week after it was released. I'm highly impressed overall, and I"m a happy stan. I'm sure she'll survive, and I'm sure that we'll be laughing about this in the future.
I'm not worried about Marry The Night. There's a bubbling hype, which is good. It's much better to have a slow boil then have it explode. It lasts longer that way. I think the video will be fine. She has appropriate promo, and radio is seeming to like it. The adds date is 11 days away, and we're almost in the top 40 (66). By next week, we'll have over 60 stations playlisting marry the night, and it'll get into the top 40. By the time we get to adds date it should have a healthy bullet and by the end of this month, it should be doing well digitally (top 10 or top 20), and she'll build hype for the video (which should have it shooting up the charts).
I think we need to do our very best to not act like the Navy (sorry; it's true). The Navy overreacts by even the hint of a rolling update when Ri-Ri gets a <1+ AI increase in any given day.
We just need to request as we should, and wait patiently.
