But unlike Born This Way, Applause wasn't even supposed to be on the album. Everything that we've heard so far from ARTPOP sounds way more different (and better) than Applause. I'm 95% sure it'll be the worst track.

And even with your example, "Born This Way" is one of the weakest tracks on Born This Way.

I think that commercially Applause is one of the weakest song on the album, ARTPOP is the weakest song commercially

Right. No one is saying applause out right sucks but compared to what we've heard the other songs are just stronger. I'm glad she got it out of the way though. Imagine the people wishing it to be the second or third single if she hadn't. the flopplause stans
