So Michael Goi just tweeted me and confirmed that this season isn't what I thought it was going to be. Guess I read into things too much. But the Netflix setting I still stand by, just not the fosters home clue.

he did mention at some panel months ago that they had two themes developing at the same time and he was gonna pick one, so I don't think this is badly planned.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Ryan Murphy said that that they are thinking on two different ideas that they will decide upon soon, which they have never done before. This explains that the exact theme is not decided yet, but there are chances that it might be based on a plot that deals with separate ideas and connect together in the end.
At this same event, he expressed, “The show has always felt to me like an opera.” He further added that horror “often deals with the innocence of children, and their wide-eyed way into it. Both ideas we’re working with have elements of children.”

I'm calling AHS: Theater. They could play on the countless superstitions in the theater world, the period piece could be of a cursed play that had a load of things happen during rehearsal and opening night then switch to present day is them recreating the cursed play for the first time in years. Although that'd be very predictable.

They started shooting the season a week ago and we don't even know who has been on set, is Gaga there, any new actors, guest stars, anything. Omg
I can see it now, Ryan pitching a character named Stephanie Giacopino to Gaga, a threater geek who can't get acting roles so instead becomes a singer, while all the other threater performers bully her and make FB pages saying she'll never be famous.
In before she actually gets this type of character. That's what I fear about Theater / Opera - it's so down Gaga's street and I want the complete opposite for her this time.
