But you are right. It did felt like Neo-Soul peaked around 2004 with "Charlene" (epic song). That was that last notable R&B sub-genre before pbR&B. New Jack Swing had way more impact than it because it was a mixture of R&B, hip hop, dance and pop.

R&B as a whole probably peaked 2004. Usher his impact. That was the 1 year where R&B really ruled Urban domination.

Perhaps, but Anthony Hamilton had put out an album that sold about 2 million and got a top 20 Hot 100 hit. I remember Neo-Soul still being big in 2002 and 2003???
