Yeah some of the lyrics are really shallow and cliche but I have a feeling that Luke told her to dumb down a lot of lyrics; remember in the piano version she played the ever so flawless line "Since when are these differences so wrong, these kids are taking their own lives".

Yeah. The first verse in particular makes me cringe. Probably Luke's fault. I do actually like the "all of these differences, they make me feel alive" line a LOT though.
