Ayu's voice has got nothing on Utada's.
To argue that Ayu is on another tier is incorrect
They both have different singing styles. Utada sings the same way Mariah Carey sings, while Ayu sings like Koda Kumi with a "fuller" sound.
It has to do with where a singer uses their head voice or ________voice (forgot the other one). They are both different and produce different sounds and as such can't be compared
Utada can hit high and low notes too
her voice isn't raspy at all, just deep.
. Her deep voice is a little annoying on Ballads but perfect for ****ty Koda.
