Yes.

For example, last season we had a challenge to write a duet or collaboration, so we needed to have two different parts (could be sung/sung, rap/sung, rap/rap etc.) There was another challenge where each contestant was given a different artist's painting (i.e. Starry Night, or The Scream) and would use that as inspiration for their song. These challenges probably won't be included in this season, but that's an idea. There will be a general challenge but you can really write anything as long as it fits the brief.

Well, it's more like different styles than topics, like "write about love" or "write about a moment in your life that affected you greatly" or "write to yourself as a child"… and sometimes they're actual challenges like "write a song without the word 'you'" or "your song must contain at least one color" or something…

Well, it's probably easier for me because I have a hand in music theory and the probability of chords in pop music, so I don't have either problem… It's actually easier for me to write to beats since I'm naturally a singer, but it's so much more rewarding when I make the melody out of thin air… leaves more to the imagination…

Yeah I still don't know anything about music theory or how to play an instrument

Nor do I sing so writing to beats is like learning a foreign language to me. But I am good at making up my own melodies since it's all I can do
