Dance Again is one of the most generic songs in the chart imo. I hope it flops. I'm Into You is J-Lo's best song since her comeback. It's so catchy.

Everyone keeps saying Dance Again is generic, which means that there are several songs out there that sound very similar to it. Can someone give me one song that has a chorus like DA's chorus?

Dance Again sounds like hundreds of songs to me lol.

But the song itself is just so boring (in my opinion). There's just nothing in it. In Somebody That I Used to Know, it has weird sounds jumping out at you everywhere, it's fascinating. Dance Again is just a load of synths, just like Sexy Chick, Only Girl, Fire Burning, Womanizer, Little Bad Girl, etc.

Are you implying the song is groundbreaking, innovative and unique?

The lyrics and the production are plain and generic. You don't need to hear similar songs to perceive that.

So, yes, it does have to sound like similar songs (songs pertaining to the same group as DA, which is dance-pop). DA certainly is generic in its lyrics and its production is nothing unique, but what I enjoy most is the melody. I like the pauses in the chorus that you just don't find often in mainstream pop music.

Anyway, the melody has nothing to do with being unique or generic. The song as a whole does sound generic.

The melody is one of the most important parts of a song. In fact, in most genres of music, it is the most important part.

I will agree that as a whole it sounds generic. I just appreciate the song for one aspect of it.
