Carly Rae Jepsen on The View
Carly Rae Jepsen was on The View today to perform her new single "Helluva Lover" and talk with the hosts of the show. She talked about how working on the new album was, her favorite songs of hers, and the drama that's going on in the industry.
"When I make an album, I get obsessed. Everything I do and think about it is all for the album, everything is channeled into the project. It's very relaxing and calming to have an outlet and release all that stuff into music. It makes it genuine and like a child of mine. But, working on this album was a lot better for me. I knew what I wanted, I had access to the producers and writers I wanted, and I got to collab with a friend of mine I don't want to reveal just yet. It was great."
"My favorite songs of mine would have to be "Your Heart Is A Muscle" and "This Kiss", as well as a song from my new album called "Heartstrings". They're all really special and great songs and I absolutely love performing them. I can't wait to perform "Heartstrings", it's a really beautiful, synthy ballad with minimal production. It might be a single."
"I don't like to get involved in drama. I really like to focus on my music and my fans, the other stuff just isn't worth it. It doesn't involve me and it never lasts or does any good. But I can say I love Sky's "Teen Queen", it's a great song. She's an a true artist."
Carly Rae Jepsen on Jimmy Kimmel
Carly Rae Jepsen was featured on Jimmy Kimmel, where she was in a short skit with the host, performed her new single, and was interviewed.
Carly performed "Helluva Lover" on the stage that was adorned with pink and yellow lights that flashed according to the beat kicks. She was wearing a shiny yellow leotard with hot pink latex boots with her signature black hair with bangs.
During the interview, she discussed her favorite songs at the moment and the direction of her album.
"My favorite songs at the moment actually inspired and mirror a lot of the stuff on my album. "Walking On Air" by Katy Perry, who I absolutely adore. We did a remix of the song together and I'm looking forward to perform that with her. But that song really reflects the house-y songs on my album. She is a great woman and an icon. I also love "What Now" by Rihanna. Although my album is more electronic, I love the soft verses with a crashing chorus. A couple songs on my album are like that."
"I'm obsessed with dance music and combining dance and house songs with a sweet pop structure. I love pop music and how it makes me feel, so I combined all that stuff into one album. It is a dance-pop album though. In a similar vein to my album Kiss, but with heightened and denser production, the whole album is more mature."
