Panic! At The Disco | Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die
After they entered a new era in 2011, I knew it was gonna be interesting to see how Panic! continue from that, and I think this album connects pretty seamlessly to where Vices & Virtues left off. It features the same theatrical atmosphere, addictive hooks and dramatic production like its predecessor, and the best thing is they know exactly how much of that the listener can take. They never overdo it, don't drag out the songs or add too much drama; the album is short, but that's exactly what makes you come back to it.
There are some weak moments, songs that are just there and don't shine as bright as the others, but overall P!ATD have created a decent and cohesive album that once again reminds us of why we love this band so much, without being boring and repeating themselves. They have gradually managed to incorporate a more electronic sound into their songs, which I think has enhanced their melodies and danceability in a great way.
For the future they might have to be a bit more risky or innovative, because I can see them getting a bit stuck with the same old sound, but on the other hand I believe in their creativity and I'm sure they will be able to suck us in again with their next record just like they did with this one.

The National | Trouble Will Find Me
I have wanted to get into The National for ages, since they're one of the most popular and acclaimed indie bands of our time. In the last couple of weeks, I finally got around to listening to their newest release and there was something about it that grabbed me right away.
It's an album unlike any other I have listened to this year - it's calm, somber, and exudes a melancholy that will get inside you and travel through your veins until it has reached every last corner of your body, if you want it or not. Their lead singer has a voice that is both soothing and saddening; he sounds like an old man who is looking back on his life from a distance, singing about his experiences in a rather objective, detached way, and that's what I think makes this album so touching and sad, just the fact that he sounds indifferent about his emotions. It's like a mixture of Morrissey and Johnny Cash in Hurt.
Apart from the intriguing vocals and lyrics, there are amazing melodies on this album, it all comes together like a sea that pulls you in and makes you feel like you are drowning, but after the first few songs you give up fighting and just let it carry you away. I really don't know how else to describe it, because I get so many feelings when I listen to this album, words wouldn't do them justice.

One of my favorite songs on TWTLTRTD is Vegas Lights, but the ones you chose are also great
A while ago I'd have also included Miss Jackson, but I listened to it way too often, it kinda lost its spark
In hindsight I'd say that This Is Gospel was a much better single choice. And I like the video more
Haven't heard that Panic! album because I was so disappointed with the first single... and the 2nd single wasn't that great either but "Girls/Girls/Boys" is great! Love that song, I need to check out that album, I guess
The National! Love their music but haven't heard their album in full, I need to!
