Chart Notes: October 20, 2012
Mika "Celebrate" his first No. 1.
Prior to this week's chart, the contest for No. 1 between Nickos Ganos, Asher Monroe, and Mika heats up. Nicko's "This Love" logged 5 weeks at No. 1 on Hot 25; Asher Monroe's "Here With You" had 5 weeks at No. 1 on Hot Airplay and 1 week at No. 1 on Hot Digital Songs. Mika scored last week at No. 1 on Hot Digital Songs with "Celebrate." After this week's tracking ends, Mika has a great reason to 'celebrate.'
Mika's "Celebrate," featuring Pharrell, tops Hot 25 after a Hot Shot debut (No. 17) and the Greatest Gainer title (17-3); it now claims Top Song on Hot 25 on week three. "Celebrate" carries the momentum as Hot Digital Songs No. 1 last week, to this week Hot 25 No. 1. It leads on Digital Songs for a second frame and holds No. 2 on Hot Airplay, trailing "Here" again.
"Here" continues to dominate Hot Airplay and "Celebrate" continues to dominate Digital Songs.
Asher Monroe's "Here With You" holds onto No. 2 for a fourth frame on Hot 25 but continues its reign on Hot Airplay for a 6th week, bumps 3-2 on Digital Songs.
Nicko's top song "This Love Is Killing Me" drops 1-3 on Hot 25, after its 5-week reign. It slips 2-3 on Digital Songs and 3-4 on Hot Airplay.
One Direction's "Live While We're Young" leaps 9-5 on Hot 25 giving the band their first top five hit. Their previous efforts "What Makes You Beautiful" peaked at No. 7 and "More Than This peaked at No. 8.
Katy Perry "Wide Awake" remains at No. 4. Hedley's "Kiss You Inside Out" slips 5-6. Lana's "Ride" climbs 8-7. Cobra Starship's "You Make Me Feel" drops 6-8. Kesha's "Die Young" crashes into the top 10 at No. 9 from No. 13 last week. Rihanna re-enters top 10 at No. 10, where it debuted 4 weeks ago.
Zedd's "Clarity," featuring Foxes, debuts strong at No. 15, even bests his earlier entry: "Spectrum," featuring Matthew Koma, which climbs 23-18. Both entries hold No. 3 and No. 8 on Hot Airplay, respectively, and have yet to enter Digital Songs.
