Pokemon Pedometer: PokeWalker

Today, Pokemon Sunday announced that a pedometer called the "PokeWalker" will be handed out to players who purchase HeartGold and SoulSilver. You can transfer a Pokemon from your game to the device and as you walk, your Pokemon will gain experience, happiness, and will level-up depending on the amount of steps you take. The pedometer is tiny and Poke Ball-shaped, featuring a black and white display with a sprite of your Pokemon as well as three buttons. We'll know more about its functions closer to the release of HeartGold and SoulSilver so stay tuned. Thanks go to Heerosferret for providing us with this information!

New CoroCoro Scans: Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza in ‘HeartGold’ and ‘SoulSilver’
Update: Added a new scan showing Arceus in the games and info related to it. Check the third paragraph.
New scans from July's issue of CoroCoro have surfaced on Japanese image boards. More scans should be coming in today or possibly later in the week. According to Heerosferret, the first scan featuring the silhouettes of Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza states that once you defeat the Elite Four in HeartGold, Kyogre will appear in the wild, whereas when you defeat them in SoulSilver, Groudon will appear. When both legendaries are brought together in the same game, Rayquaza can be encountered as well.
The second scan just shows off Professor Elm's lab, depicts Silver holding a Great Ball, and shows a Team Rocket grunt. Nothing new is revealed from what we can tell. The third scan featuring Cynthia states, "Witness the birth of Arceus and Legendary Pokemon," though we have no idea if she is referring to Platinum's Arceus legend, these two remakes, the 12th movie, or what.
The fourth scan, which shows Arceus and Cynthia together in HeartGold and SoulSilver, features someone saying that they were "given the right to choose one life out of three." It is unclear if Cynthia or Arceus is speaking the line or who the line is referring to. It could be in reference to Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina, as there are three symbols on the floor and Arceus rules over those Pokemon. This scene is most likely a hidden event, as it would be hard to imagine Arceus or Cynthia appearing in the timeline of the second generation. Perhaps if you trade the Japanese movie Arceus to the two games, you will unlock an event where you can capture one of the Dragon Trio, thus "saving" them. This is just speculation of course.
Another scan has come up which shows a possible Arceus event in Heart Gold & Soul Silver which features Arceus & Cynthia in a triangle between three symbols, possibly symbolising Dialga, Palkia & Giratina. It is said on Japanese forums that if you transfer the Movie Arceus over to HGSS, you will be able to go to a place in the game and unlock a Level 1 Dialga, Palkia or Giratina.

A new scan of Jirachi has surfaced. The scan is way too blurry to read, but posters on 2ch who have CoroCoro are providing summaries of the info. How accurate their posts are we do not know - we will probably have to wait a few more days for clearer scans to determine their validity. However, they state that a Jirachi download is going to take place in June. The new WiiWare game Melee! Pokemon Scramble! appears on the bottom of the page and is coming out in a few days, so perhaps Jirachi is a present that you can download with the game. When you trade the Jirachi to HeartGold and SoulSilver, it will unlock a new area called "Edge of the Night Sky."
A few hours ago, another CoroCoro picture showed up on the Japanese forums. This one involves Jirachi. A special distribution of Jirachi is to begin on June 19th. It is at Level 5 and is said to have special attacks. It also unlocks a new area in Heart Gold & Soul Silver when traded over. The method of distribution is as of yet unknown but as soon as we are sure, we'll let you know

Jirachi Distribution, Scramble Promotion at McDonalds in Japan

Jirachi and Scramble Promotion at McDonalds
A McDonalds promotion will take place in Japan from June 19th to July 17th in which customers can download a special Jirachi through Mystery Gift. As we already found out in the previous news story, the Jirachi will unlock something special in HeartGold and SoulSilver, rumored to be a hidden area called "Edge of the Night Sky."
Additionally, McDonalds will allow players to download some of the Pokemon toys from Melee! Pokemon Scramble to their DS, including Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Turtwig, Piplup, Chimchar, Garchomp, Pikachu, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Mewtwo, Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres (all 1st and 4th generation Pokemon!). When they have collected all of the Pokemon, they can earn McDonalds coupons. Basically, the promotion is just a gimmicky advertisement for the game.

‘HeartGold’ and ‘SoulSilver’ Box Art
A new CoroCoro magazine scan has revealed the box art for HeartGold and SoulSilver. HeartGold obviously features Ho-Oh, who is posed in front of the Tin Tower, while SoulSilver features Lugia, the Whirl Islands seen vaguely in the background behind it. Both boxes are quite larger than a typical Pokemon game because of the inclusion of the PokeWalker. Click the thumbnail below for a much larger scan. The specific release date for the games is still unknown at this point.

"I Am The Reincarnation of Pikachu"
This summer, like every summer, a new Pokémon movie is hitting theaters. This man-dressed as a woman — famed actor, author and singer Akihiro Miwa — is voicing Alpha Pokémon, Arceus.
Dubbed Pocket Monsters Diamond & Pearl the Movie: Arceus: To the Conquering of Space-Time (say that twice fast!), the movie is the third entry in the Diamond & Pearl trilogy.
At a recent press event, the 74-year-old Miwa joked, "I am the reincarnation of Pikachu. That's why my hair is yellow, you see." (This of course would mean that Pikachu is DEAD.) Talent and nerd hero Shoko Nakagawa will also be lending her voice to the movie as Notched-ear Pichu.
This is hardly the first voice acting role for Miwa, previously doing voice work for Princess Mononoke and Howl's Moving Castle. Miwa is a show business mainstay, first making a splash as a singer in the 1950s and later appearing in the terrific 1968 crime film Black Lizard, which was directed by Kinji Fukasaku (Battle Royale).
Arceus: To the Conquering of Space-Time opens in Japanese theaters this July.

More Details from CoroCoro for HeartGold & Soul Silver
Some further scans have come out and have shown that the Pokémon that follow you are not limited to the starters. There are screenshots of Steelix, Wobbuffet and Kecleon following the games character. You can turn to your Pokémon at any time and get some sort of dialogue with them to see when they're happy or in trouble. You even seem to be able to collect accessories from them similar to in Amity Square. All 493 Pokémon are capable of following you
There is also a screenshot which shows that the Pokédex & Box navigation has received a new touch screen style navigation scheme. The Touch Screen utilisation has been fully implemented into this game. All previous information has since been confirmed, including the Arceus bits from Wednesday.
The map of Johto in the background confirms that the game heads east towards Kanto and shows Route 28 by Mt. Silver. It also shows a new area has appeared just west of the National Park. It is unknown what this place is.
Pre-orders for the games begins on July 4th. If you pre-order, you will get a Ho-Oh figure for Heart Gold, a Lugia for Soul Silver and an Arceus if you pre-order both.
