Katy's sold nearly 6 million copies of Teenage Dream WW, and is gonna end up selling 3 million in the US. HOW is that a singles artists?  Has your fave even gotten a top 5 hit with a ballad? It's not the easiest thing to do, which proves Katy has power in the industry. But of course, every single artists is hitting top 2 with a ballad.

3m copies with a shitload of #1 singles, a movie and a tour. Not gonna post receipts comparing that to Gaga's "flop" era album sales because I'm on mobile and it will just make it too easy.

So what? Do you know what a singles artist is? Pitbull and Flo Rida are for example because even if they have hit singles, they can't sell their albums.
Katy is about to sell 3M copies the US with 6 #1 singles, it's not like people only bought her singles, she simply can sell both and I don't understand why people can't see it as a possible fact. And btw, if you watch the TD chart run in the US, it never left the top 75 in two years... yes you're right, she can't sell her album.
And btw, STOP with the movie, it wasn't even a big success and it's a movie that only big fans are going to watch (fans that have probably already have the album).

LMAO, of course not. Katy is not a good singer and doesn't have much talent, imo her performance are really weak and hard to watch. Only famous because of her face, gaga still sold more albums and already outgrossed her tour even though Katy's tickets are cheap and Gaga's are expensive! Plus Katy's movie flopped, this shows that people are not interested in her as a person, they play her songs in partys but she is very forgetable. whereas Gaga also has a bigger fanbase, she will last much longer without #1 songs. Also Gaga's perfume sold more in less time.

Katy has power on the radio, not the industry, hun.
Power is shifting singles AND albums.
Power is selling out stadiums.
Power is bringing in ratings.
Power is winning prestigious awards.
Katy has no power.

And it's not the case? Omg she nearly sold 6 MILLION ****IN COPIES, do you understand what it means? Plus she sold million and million singles, it's huge for a Pop artist.
And like we said before, The CDT was her first big tour, she has never done a big tour like that, can you wait or it's impossible?
And getting nominations at the Grammys = being recognized (even if it's not as prestigious as winning, yes), a lot of artists can't even have noms....
And please, don't act like WA was a commercial up tempo, everyone thought it would flop.
