Come on, let us all try and make sense. Britney has established herself as an incredible, powerful, and influential solo artist. She is not known for duets and will certainly not associate herself with such. The Gaga contribution ("Quicksand") made sense back then when she was "indie". Not so much anymore. If she were to do some collaboration, I'd rather have it be Moby or something. Much more credible to me.

Madonna is fine. At that time she needed Britney more, especially after the disastrous American Life. Britney doesn't "need" anyone. If she were to collaborate with Gaga, it will only benefit the latter. I know she did some collabo with the Ying Yang Twins, but that suited the song just fine. Besides, if I remember correctly it was Madonna who offered herself, not Britney requesting it.

ETA: Madonna is at a very different caliber compared to Gaga, so the comparison is invalid to me.

That makes sense. Britney must have high standards for those requesting to collabo w/ her. I can't picture her with GaGa anytime soon. I can only see her with Shakira, Beyonce, or Rihanna, but that's jmo.

^ and would britney have a high enough self esteem for hot video choreography? i've seen what she can do in rehersal videos, but she didn't give 100% of it on tour, and she could've done more than she did in "3". if she did this it would have to be hot dancing from both of them.

and i would think it would be britney ft. gaga, but you never know, since it wasnt madonna ft. britney. it depends who would offer themselves to the other. (which i dont see happening)
