Discussion: Worst mistake of Gaga's Career?

She got lost in trying to shock everyone. Alejandro, while being a great song, had such a strange music video. NO ONE unless you sat and tried hard, could understand it upon first glance. Then with BTW, she just got weirder and as all of my friends say, because none of them are really into pop music, she got annoying and they got tired of her music, because they didn't find it catchy, appealing, or relatable.
GaGa got popular due to her being different while still releasing radio friendly songs, that you could relate to or found FUN and different, not strange and different. When she lost sight of everyone but her fans and continued trying to shock people with BOTH her appearance and music, she lost the touch she'd originally had and instead of focusing on friendlier music, she isolated everyone besides her fans.
BTW (The album and era) was one of the largest mistakes she could have made. Had she released ARTPOP or an album similar to it with more pop-influenced tracks and without the style voice she used in Judas and still hasn't stopped with, she'd be fine right now and competing as one of the largest pop girls. It just goes to show that you can't lose focus, regardless of how large and popular you are. One mistake and you're finished.

The meat dress began her descent. She should've gone vegan.

This. ARTPOP should have come b4 BTW. I also am tired of the Judas voice.

Her attitude.
She became too pretentious and surrounded herself with yes men.

Lack of other musical genre to fall back to. Katy and Rihanna are both successful at crossing over, but Gaga can't seem to find success outside of dance pop music.

Her biggest mistake was trying to amaze the world with things that others have already done, she's on the verge to join the 'I could have been Madonna' club, she's gonna be a famous member like Cyndi Lauper, Madonna's curse.

She got away from her winning formula too soon (fun pop songs). It reminds me of xtina, she just dived into different sounds and eventually never secured a big following because anytime someone would start to become a fan her next album would abandon her previous sounds completely.

The whole concept of "little monsters" was a huge mistake. She should never have made that a thing.

This is true but DWUW was not dance pop and was becoming a huge hit, it was only missing a proper video.

Bad romance video
While it might be her best and most iconic video and song with shock value. After that she was trying to outdo it and we got Alejandro and the rest is artpop

ARTPOP should not have come before BTW. That would have ruined her even more. BTW, the album, was a good move. It was different from what everyone else was releasing, but it was still well received. The only people who hate it are some ATRL members because it isn't fierce and it isn't particularly sexy. The era was a huge mistake. Everyone was channeling her gimmicks and she tried to one up them. Gaga should have reinvented herself completely. BTW wouldn't have been such a threat to people if Gaga hadn't overloaded them with a new direction and even stranger gimmicks. It was too much at once. A toned down era for BTW would have done her wonders. I imagine behind the scene drama made things even more incoherent. What a waste....but yes, don't confuse a bad era with a bad album.
ARTPOP should have never come out, unless it was her debut album. It is not an evolution of her style in any shape, way, or form. It still would have gotten dragged in 2011 because it simply isn't a standout album. If Gaga had made being different look fun (as another member said) instead of ugly and depressing well then BTW would have been her best era.

going through 700 ideas in her first year of fame. All that's left are bland repeats now. (Outfits, music videos, etc)
