I mean if you had asked somebody back in those days they would have said someone else, and when someone else in the future does it, it will likely remind people of that person. I don't really see your point. Her red hair was fab though

Ciara doesn't generate hits like Rihanna does.

True. But the same goes for the asymmetrical bob she had during the Good Girl Gone Bad era. If you held up a picture of somebody with the hairstyle and asked people who it reminded them of, I'll bet they say Rihanna's name.

My point is that Rihanna's image is arguably one of the most popular aspects of her career. She is easily recognizable.

Sorry, I don't equate fashion to Rihanna. She's done nothing that revolutionary. I also fail to see how it inspires teens around the world but whatever, moot point.

Adele emerged and was tremendously successful during a time when any girl off the street could call up Dr. Luke and ask for a hit. Rihanna is known for her endless radio hits, and Katy and Kesha rely on superproducers to pump out these recycled hits. Beyonce wasn't promoting an album at the time, and Gaga was busy with BTW. These were the girls that ran the show, and then here comes Adele whose talent is purely vocal and rips them to shreds with RITD. She's reminded the public that musical/vocal talent will always reign supreme and be successful. It's all contextual. Her song became a hit at the right time and place. That's why some have added her to the "trinity" (which is a dumb and moot point anyway).

People can relate to Adele. They feel for her, as she conveys her emotions and the lyrics in a way that's so visceral. That attachment is powerful, and does not exist with an artist like Rihanna. Almost anyone can get a party song right, but not everyone can connect with the human soul in the way that Adele has.

I don't see why they felt it was necessary to compare Rihanna to artists that she doesn't even share the same genere with. Mary J. Blige is Hip Hop/R&B, Bey switches back and forth between R&B/Pop, Ciara is R&B/Urban and Aaliyah had a multiple genre range. Rihanna is for the most part, a POP artist. The only reason they compared her to those ladies is because they're black. Sometimes we have to really dissect things, meaning we have to analyze comparisons and patterns in those statements.

Why not compare her to Britney, Christina, Jessica, Janet or even Whitney? Those artists for the most part are pure Pop artists. ( I know some will argue otherwise for Janet, but I think she's a Pop star through and through).
