I appreciate a mellow/somber La Roux. Their more vulnerable tracks were among my higher rated. Reflections Are Protections just drones on though. I don't feel anything from it, whether it be excitement or really just genuine emotion tbh.
Wouldn't be surprised if the rate got invaded by Diamonds, with all of the recent activity and all. I didn't give 10s across the board like some stans (
), but I was already inclined towards TFJ given my fondness and knowledge of Marina. One thing this rate really did for me though is make me harp on Ellie's sort of unattached lyrics, I don't get the connection with her as I do Marina. She has a thing for vague, pretty references to things that
might be personal to her. Like Salt Skin, for example—Ellie runs a lot so as Stevie posted, salt skin is a reference to her running, but that's not immediately evident to casual listeners as it should be.
I mean it's the worst in the album IMO.
